geebsBack in the Southland, post-Holiday. The roomie picked me up from the airport, and had dinner with him and C-note at Mama-Fu's. Its been such a long time since I've been to one that I didn't know they changed the menu. I forgot what I used to get, only that they didn't have it. They still have beef curry rolls on the menu at least.
Told the roomie that BSG: Razor doesn't spoil the 3rd season, since he's a season behind, but he's skeptical and doesn't want to risk. As far as I can tell, there's nothing spoiling 3rd season in it. Well, it may color a certain thing differently. The only thing that may be an issue is when the Hybrid is telling Kendra that Starbuck is the harbinger of the apocalypse. So when she returns at the end of s3, someone who hadn't seen the movie would be all, "Hmm, that's weird, I wonder what that means?" Whereas someone who saw Razor before seeing the s3 finale would already start thinking, "Uh oh, here comes Kara, harbinger of the apocalypse!"
But I don't think its an issue. I enjoyed it, I wasn't expecting much out of it, which is good because, honestly, the movie is pointless, mostly fleshing stuff out you had already heard, like Cain shooting the pre-Fisk XO for disobeying her, and the executing of the civilians. And they show how exactly they discovered Gina was a cylon. For some reason the whole Gina/Cain thing was not a surprise. I could swear they strongly hinted at it already. Talk about a bad breakup though, punishing your lesbo ex by getting her gang-raped by a bunch of men.
Still, knowing what happened, it was still tense seeing it unfold. Like the XO thing, when she asked for his sidearm, you knew what was coming, but it was still shocking. What did he think she was gonna do with it though? And given what he was doing, why would he give it to her?!
I'm also curious, is Boomer the only Cylon (not counting the final 5) who didn't know she was a double agent? I mean, when Gina was claiming she wasn't a cylon initially, was she just trying to maintain her cover, or did she really believe that? When Kendra showed the video feed of the dead Six, did she consciously think, "Damn, the jig is up, lemme kill some Marines and then Cain", or was it like with Boomer shooting Adama, she suddenly snapped back into being a Cylon, and its only Boomer who ever had issue with it? They did say Eights were flawed like that.
I mean, they've had Cylons protest they weren't Cylons before, and I'm curious if they really believed that but unlike Boomer got over it quick, or are they just liars?
Anyways, I guess they couldn't get that one guy who played Garner to reprise him? They had Cain and Fisk, but they also had a bunch of bit players as well. Showboat, Hoshi, Sgt. Mathias? (am I freak for even knowing who they are?)
