Nov. 6th, 2007 10:26 amMonday night TV commentary:
On Chuck, we find the reason Bryce got Chuck kicked out of Stanford- because he was on the track to be recruited to the CIA, and Bryce felt Chuck had too much heart and joining the CIA would kill him.
But yeah, as soon as the flashback said Chuck aced the last hidden images portion of the test, I thought, "Ah, they prolly wanted Chuck because he'd be someone who could absorb something like the intersect." Well, obviously, they didn't want someone to actually absorb it, but that sort of brainy-ness would prolly be useful. And sure enough, that was the case, as the prof even said in the interview that he's very good talent for retaining things, hence why Bryce sent the intersect to him in the pilot. Though I'm still confused if Chuck and Sarah know that Casey was the one who killed Bryce? I mean, what Bryce did is still considered traitorous, so its not like Casey didn't have cause.
On this week's Prison Break, the Feebs get Mahone out of Sona in exchange for testifying against the company. Though things don't seem to be working so smoothly on that front, causing Mahone to become more and more unhinged.
We also learn Lechero's real name is Norman, and he got the name Lechero by disguising himself as a milkman to kill his mother's rapist.
Anyways, in Sona, someone kills the frog and Whistler's blamed. Since Lechero's the law in Sona, they hold him until he can be properly punished, putting a crimp in the escape plan. T-bag tries to get Michael to frame Sammy, but Mikey finds a bloody shank in Mahone's bed (that Mahone claims is planted) and tries to give Mahone up, but this is the exact same time Mahone is released. So you think Whistler's gonna get executed, but Lechero instead kills pony tail guy. Apparently Sammy was getting cigars from that guy from the outside, being courted or whatever, but he gave the cigars to ponytail guy, which he smoked, so Lechero thinks its ponytail guy who's the traitor. Why that has anything to do with Frenchy being killed, I have no idea. But Whistler lives, and ponytail guy dies and is displayed as an object lesson. Because of this, the afternoon soccer game is also canceled.
On the outside, Linc effs up by accidentally revealing they were escaping earlier than the company thought. And in a dumb way too, they had to poison TV guard's coffee to get rid of him, so when Susan (who's real name we later learn is Gretchen) asks for an update, he mentions trouble they were having poisoning the guard, and when she asks why they're doing it so early, he says because the drugs take a few hours to take effect, EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS THE ONE WHO PROVIDED HIM WITH THE DRUG ON HIS REQUEST. Dumb-ass! So she gets real pissed and is about to decapitate LJ when Linc profusely apologizes. He also asks for a fake pic of Sara, as Michael was refusing to escape unless he saw an updated pic. Alas, the company can't get a fake pic that fast, so Linc has to fess up that Sara's dead.
Mikey's upset, so he challenges Whistler to the chicken foot fight, because he blames him. Though its totally obvious that since the soccer game is off, he's just doing that to create a distraction. Heh, as they make their escape, I was thinking, wait, what the hell are they going to do if its overcast and the guard's not blinded? And ha, a cloud comes overhead, forcing them to go back in. So they have to fight, and Whistler kicks Michael's ass and is about to kill him when the guards find the poisoned guard and the ladder. However, since they were escaping from the room of one of Lechero's men, its that guy who gets executed instead. But the damage is done and Lechero's authority is undermined. So he figures Michael is trying to escape and wants in, as now he's a dead man because of all this.
Heh, since Michael announced his reason for wanting to fight Whistler, Bellick heard, and is all sad, since he kinda liked Sara too. I half expected to see him shank whistler since Michael couldn't kill the guy.
Anyways, on the outside, Linc tries to fake the plan worked, but when Susan finds out, she's pissed. So Sucre causes a crash, but its all moot because Linc sucks and has to give up LJ again anyways.
In the end, we see Whistler knows Susan, as she comes to visit, and Michael sees him talking to her, and at first I was thinking, "Ooh, he knows something's up now!" But then I remembered he doesn't actually know who Susan is. So who knows what will come of this?
An egg-citing ep of Heroes. At the company, Matt and Nate show up, telling Bob that Matt's dad is coming after him. The plan is to let Matt nullify his dad's powers so Niki can get in close and inject him with the depowering virus. Mo objects and they're all, we'll give him your blood later so he doesn't die. Bob tells Nate how Matt's dad is just a tool for the real enemy, that Adam Monroe guy mentioned last week is the real bad guy. Alas, Matt's dad (Morey? Mori? I'm not sure how you spell it, so I'm sticking with Matt's dad) uses DL's ghost to trick Niki into trying to kill Bob.
Oh, first, lemme say how I didn't realize last week the pic of the broken nose shooter guy was Mo, though it became very clear tonight, when they showed the pics again. HRG calls Mo some time during this to ask if he's gotten a Company gun yet, worried that its Mo who's going to kill him. They argue about it, Mo saying HRG only cares about himself and his family and Mo is expendable. Anyways, after their tiff, Mo reveals to Bob that he was working with HRG, but not anymore, because he doesn't know who's right anymore!
So anyways when Niki was getting messed with mentally, and it was just her and Mo in the room, I was thinking, "Ah is this when he gets his nose broken?" And it is. Luckily, Niki menaces Bob at first, but she has enough mental fortitude to instead stab herself instead of Bob with the virus before she rips him apart. Matt meanwhile manages to confront his dad and free himself and Molly from his dad's control, locking his dad in his own nightmares.
With Matt's dad taken care of, they try to cure Niki, but Mo's blood doesnt' work anymore, as the Shanti Virus has changed! oops!
The Bennett family. West introduces himself to Claire's mom, and they spend hours macking on the couch (Claire and West, not Claire's mom!) while listening to their product placed mp3 player/cellphone. Claire struggles with how to tell West that her dad's HRG, but its moot when they're hanging out in the kitchen and he sees HRG come in. He freaks out, thinking they need to get out of there, so Claire's all, "He's my dad!" so he flies off, thinking this whole thing was a trap and Claire was some sort of honeypot. So, he doesn't return her IMs. Noah meanwhile finds out about West and is really pissed, even more so when he sees the "drunk cheerleader claims to have seen flying man" article in the newspaper. He says they need to move, and Claire's all she's not going anywhere.
In the past, Hiro escapes with Yakeo and her dad, and returns to destroy the guns. He challenges Kensei, and they fight, and the place is about to blow up. Hiro offers to teleport Kensei out of there, but Kensei refuses, saying Hiro taught him love and all that jazz, but then took it all away, so he's gonna spend the rest of his days destroying everything Hiro holds dear. It was at this point I realized he was Adam, but more on that later. So Hiro teleports out and the place blows, and Hiro assumes that since Kensei became a gross smoldering corpse, he was dead.
He meets Yakeo, and says he has to go back to the future, and Yakeo promises to tell the stories as he knew them to keep history from changing. Hiro shows up in Ando's office, all, "I had a great adventure, let's go tell my dad!" Ando's all "awkward!" and tells Hiro his dad was murdered.
In the future, Caitlyn and Peter are grabbed my hazmat guys who decontaminate them. They're shocked to see him alive, as he's supposed to be dead. Angela tries to jog his memory, and he at least remembers she's his mom. She tells him to return to the past to change things, and meanwhile Caitlyn's getting deported. He goes to see her and she's all "get me out of here!" But then he accidentally jumps back to the present, stranding her there! Ha!! Oops! So if he changes the future, and she's stranded there right now, what happens to her?
Anyways, Peter, upon returning, reflexively shoots lightning at a figure lurking about. We see the hand heal, and its Sark, who says "Its me, Adam!" I knew it!

Date: 2007-11-06 06:57 pm (UTC)Or mebbe he's trying to get Peter to create that future he went to. I don't think he's gonna try to change the past, because why would you want to rule ancient Japan when you can rule the modern world?

Date: 2007-11-06 07:07 pm (UTC)I agree that it could just be the affecting the future thing though. But my main point is that the dialogue is always very ham-handed, and I don't think they accidentally used the word "history" there.

Date: 2007-11-07 04:50 am (UTC)On Heroes... I mean the broken nose painting guy was kinda brown, so who the hell else could it have been? Also, did you happen to see Sylar in the ad about universal being green where they were planting trees? He was like a camera shy 8 year old, which is incredibly strange for an actor.

Date: 2007-11-07 12:13 pm (UTC)Perhaps Sylar was playing coy for the camera? Like, "look at me, I'm a famous actor, but even I can be shy and bashful sometimes!"
