Monday night TV commentary:

Tonight's Chuck had some interesting, albeit weirdly cut action sequences. Too bad they couldn't have gotten a hotter asian chick. Speaking of hotness though, was it me, or was gift shop girl (or if you prefer, Madison from Everwood or Rachel from Saved by the Bell the New Class if you're not a Scrubs watcher. Or I coulda just said Ellie) looking particularly hot in the ep? So they had no one but each other growing up, eh? (heh.) She is pretty clingy for his sister. Of course, with a sister that hot, its not a bad thing!

In any case, one problem with the show is that he can't hide his spy life like Sydney could on Alias without looking like a complete a-hole. At least Sydney worked at a job that could require travel. He's a tech geek at the local Buy More. I mean, the whole spending time with Sarah excuse works, but it makes the both of them look like pricks to Morgan and Ellie. And I would think they'd be start to get resentful of her.

On Heroes, [livejournal.com profile] clevemire said he wasn't feeling KB's character, but I like her. Of course, after rich bitches who are secretly sad and broken under their bitchy ice queen facade, or at the very least aren't nearly as bitchy as they'd like you to believe (Blair from Gossip Girl, early Summer Roberts and Brooke Davis), the next type of TV/movie character archetype I crush on are bad-ass sociopath chyx like Faith, Niki in Jessica mode, and Starbuck as she is on Bionic Woman. Candace or Nicole Wallace wouldn't neccesarily be bad-ass, but I'd also throw them in this category. I was going to say why can't I like the nice girls, but I realized the third type of TV/movie character chick I go for are the cute, sidekick chyx who get no play at all. And I'm not meaning like JLH in Trojan War or Joey Potter or those other tomboyish best friend types to the male protagonist who he's somehow blind to how hot she is, but as the series progresses, he finally does notice. More like Chloe on Smallville (or very early, pre-lesbo, heck, even pre-Oz Willow), someone cute and sweet but always undeservedly gets dumped on for some reason.

But I digress. I think her character is kinda fun. Ellie is very similar to Ronnie Mars if she had superpowers and was evil, but that's not neccesarily a bad thing in my book. Being blase about turning Mcbrother into a smoldering corpse? She's amusingly messed up in the head. In any case, I'm not convinced Sammy Jenkis is her dad. I think we're supposed to think that, but given they didn't show the other side of that phone, I think it may end up being someone else.

Speaking of dads, Matt's was kind amusing. I actually thought he was for real initially, and he was just some poor schmo being hunted like Sulu and Mama Petrelli. Like somehow the real nightmare man had framed him or something. But I like the sudden change into evil and throwing Nate and Matt into their worst nightmares. I'm curious if the whole baby really being his and him denying it is for real, or just a byproduct of the nightmare. In any case, the way his dad was talking, does that mean Matt will eventually be able to expand his powers to do that too? It seems his powers are kinda like Candace's, except its entirely in the person's head as opposed to being a telepathic illusion. Which is also in a person's head I guess, but it seems nightmare man puts them in an almost dream state, whereas Candace's victims are still somewhat cogent.

But Micah reveals his powers to Monica. Is that a new 9th Wonders? Is it being done by people other than Isaac? Is she gonna start becoming a costumed vigilante, bringing justice to the streets of Nawlins? Well, I guess she'd just end up being exactly like Echo? Owel, if Mo absconds with her before he and Micah see each other, I shall be very put out!

Oh, and getting back to Ellie, I assume she's encountered Petey before if he also has the electrical powers? I always thought that power would be kinda fun. Particularly if you also have telekinesis like Peter. Then you could throw in Emperor Palpatine impressions as you pin them to the wall telekinetically and shock them for information.

Since [livejournal.com profile] turdburgler got Lu Bu's PI, I must strive to get it as well. I'm slowly but surely "completing" the game. The Wei are all level 99 with their 4ths and personal items, so I don't have to worry about them. But let's get a progress report:

Shu:
have maxed out/4ths/PIs:
Zhao Yun
Xing Cai
Wei Yan
Yue Ying
Jiang Wei
Guan Ping
Ma Chao (they may have nerfed his c6 shockwave, but he seems to have one of the best STs for a DW character as its fast and actually hits a bigger arc in front of him compared to other DWers)

Liu Bei, Zhang Fei, and Guan Yu have their 4ths with all 10s, but they're not maxed out nor do they have their PIs. I have neither the 4ths nor the PIs for Zhuge Liang, Pang Tong, or Huang Zhong.

Wu:
have maxed out/4ths/PIs:
Sun Ce
Sun Quan
SSX
Zhou Tai
Ling Tong
Da Qiao
Xiao Qiao
Zhou Yu

Taishi Ci is maxed out and his 4th but no PI. Lu Xun and Sun Jian have their 4ths, but aren't maxed out or have their PIs. Lu Meng and Huang Gai don't have their 4ths, PIS, nor are they even close to being max.

Other:
have maxed out/4ths/PIs:
Diao Chan

Lu Bu is just missing his PI. I'm not sure if Zuo Ci is maxed out (he definitely has his 4th), but I don't have his PI yet either. But Meng Huo, Zhu Rong, Zhang Jiao, Yuan Shao, Dong Zhou, Da Ji, and Orochi are nowhere close to being done. After Diao Chan, Lu Bu, and Zuo Ci, Zhu Rong is prolly the farthest progressed of this grouping.

SW1:
have maxed out/4ths/PIs:
Mitsuhide
Kenshin
Magoichi
Yukimura
Hanzo
Oichi
Ranmaru
Keiji
Masamune
Kuniochi

Nobunaga and Goemon just need their PIs. Speaking of Goemon, I actually like him. I mean, I've always been a fan of the flail as a weapon, and he's pretty funny. I'm currently working on Noh and Okuni. Shingen is sans 4th and PI.

SW2:
have maxed out/4ths/PIs:
Hideyoshi
Kanetsugu
Shimazu
Ginchiyo
Ina
Mitsunari
Nagamasa
Musashi
Kotaro
Nene
Honda

Sakon just needs his PI, and I think Ieyasu just needs to be maxed out. So that leaves that queen Yoshimoto.

So by my count, that's 27 left unfinished. That means I'm about 65% through. Honestly though, I have no desire to play Zhang Jiao or Yoshimoto. At least Dong Zhou is relatively strong, but he's only slightly above them on my list. Shingen had the second highest defense after Honda in SW2, but his moveset is just lame. I want to at least finish the three families. Thankfully Wei is done. Pang Tong and Huang Zhong are amusing characters, but they're really not to fun to play as their movesets suck. I'm not too keen on Huang Gai, but his moveset is okay and he's relatively powerful. I'm not a big fan of Lu Meng either, as he's kinda boring.

So in terms of people I want to "complete", that leaves: Lu Bu, Zuo Ci, Liu Bei, Zhang Fei, Guan Yu, Zhuge Liang, Sun Jian, Taishi Ci, Lu Xun, Nobunaga, Goemon, Okuni, Noh, Meng Huo, Zhu Rong, Yuan Shao, Da Ji, and Orochi. I guess 18 more to go at least before I call it quits?

Getting Okuni's PI is full of hilarity. She has to defeat Lu Bu on that one stage with the Supply Captains and when he runs up to her during the 3rd wave, she's all "Ooooh, what a manly chest you have!" and he's all "I WILL KILL YOU WITH IT!" or something equally hilarious.

Okuni's such a gigantic moron. I don't know why I keep playing her. :P

Because she's hilarious? Or at least causes hilarious conversations to occur?

Supply captains with Lu Bu? So is that the one where you have to stop Dong Zhou from getting the gold? Just another example of Lu Bu getting nerfed. It used to be scary having to face him. But if they expect you to be able to kill him with Okuni, he can't be too bad.

Yeah, that stage.

Probably the hilarious conversations. Not as good as SW1, but pretty stupid nonetheless. What a whore she is!

As far as Lu Bu goes, to be fair -- only on that one stage, Hu Lao Gate was it?, was he ever really so powered up that you'd need the best characters in order to beat him. Every other stage he appeared in he was a pain with a huge health bar, but, only a little more annoying than your average playable officer, that I recall.

I'm trying to remember where else you fight him besides Hu Lao Gate. Su Shui gate? That was usually the stage right before Hu Lao gate. I think he shows up there. But yeah, I think he was in that beefed up mode only in Hu Lao gate. I guess he was managable in the other boards.

Though speaking of Su Shui gate, the boss of that level is usually that Hua Xiong (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hua_Xiong) guy you always see with Dong Zhuo in WO. If they had to add even more characters to the DW franchise, I always thought he'd be a good choice, because I think he was supposed to be Dong Zhou's next bad-ass general after Lu Bu. And Yu Jin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yu_Jin) and Yue Jin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yue_Jin) for Wei. (heh, I think all three use the same generic character design in WO, only in different colors) I see them around all the frickin' time in WO and the DW games, and in history, those two, Zhang Liao, Zhang He, and Xu Huang were supposed to be the top 5 Wei generals. So you'd think they'd have their own characters by now.

Same goes for Wu Tugu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wu_Tugu), he's like the only other Nanman guy who I always see around besides Meng Huo and Zhu Rong. His description makes him sound like a giant, and he had that "impenetrable" Nanman armor, so that sounds like it would make a character design.
