Ugh, its only an hour into work and I'm already in a bad mood. Of course, I'm prolly cranky because I think I only got about 3 hours of sleep last night. I was sleepy after watching Entourage (though not because of it), but I foolishly stayed up to watch Robot Chicken at 1130 and just couldn't get to sleep until 2 or 3 for some reason. Of course, I should've tried to sleep/wake up earlier Saturday and Sunday to adjust to the new sleep schedule. I might've still been on evening shift time, thus I couldn't sleep until 2 to 3 (when I was normally sleeping this past semester). Owel, at least I'll be tired enough to sleep earlier tonight!

Though speaking of that Robot Chicken, how odd that I had just mentioned Turbo Teen to [livejournal.com profile] dashoka the other day (Well, he was asking about that show Automan from the 80s, which I do remember, but when I first saw the word "Automan" I thought of "Turbo Teen" first) and they had a skit about him. I was also going to mention MASK when he brought up Visionaries, since I remember both cartoons better because of the toylines, which holds the same for those shows lesser known than He-man, Thundercats, or Silverhawks (which were in turn lesser known than G.I.Joe, the Transformers, Go-bots or TMNT), like Captain Power, Robotix, Inhumanoids, Sectaurs, Bionic Six, C.O.P.S., Centurions, Bravestarr, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, and Spiral Zone. Who else remembers all those? Ooh, ticky box poll time:

[Poll #1045906]

Actually, there's one 80s toyline I can't seem to remember the name of. It was a bunch of vehicles whose schtick was that it had air powered missile launchers and/or came with an air powered pump launcher thingie to send the wheeled vehicles racing across the floor. And the storyline behind the toys was that it was some world where pollution had rendered the air inhospitable and the rich people were hoarding the fresh air so the good guys were Robin Hood types bringing fresh air to the poor people. (and I can't believe I have brain space wasted on all this crap)

Anyways, so in addition to voicing himself (well, his BSG character), Col Tigh also did one of the voices in that MASK skit? But it was cool that they got him, Helo, and Starbuck to do their own voices. And is it me, or was the Rainbow Brite one (didn't they do a skit about her before) extremely dark?!

I guess you either forgot or never heard of Starcom.

Argh, I forgot about it. The toys had the little magnets in their feet, and some of the smaller vehicles could fold up into a box like configuration so one could fit it in the hold of the Starmax bomber (the only vehicle I remember from the line) or under this kinda utility transport thingie (at least on the good side, I don't remember the evil side's vehicles) I've always been one to want "elaboration" on the weapons used by my toys (though I only had one figure, one of the bad guys, one of the robots who wasn't a general) beyond "gun", so I liked that that the filecards listed a letter/number designation and a descriptor of the weapon, like if it was a laser or rail gun or bazooka or whatever.

I definitely knew about Turbo Teen and all those USA Saturday Cartoon Express favorites. I didn't mark Jem because I did not know about that in the 80s, but only learned of the show a few years ago. It might be [livejournal.com profile] mike_b's fault, but not absolutely sure.

Ah, USA's Saturday Cartoon Express, I forgot it was called that. But you didn't know of Jem? See, I always threw it in with G.I.Joe and Transformers because I think they were the same production company (and were shown in the same time block, at least where I lived)- G.I.Joe PSAs had "And knowing is half the battle", whereas Jem PSAs had "And that makes you a superstar!" There are some PSAs on the Transformers cartoon DVDs where they also use "knowing is half the battle", but I believe I read somewhere they wanted their catchphrase to be something like, "And by knowing, you are transformed!" Which sounds pretty lame.
