mispellngs and bad grammars

geebsOne may read my writing and think, "doesn't this guy know how to spell?" or "that's not even a real word!" Just to quiet the nay-sayers, yes, I am aware of such things. There are a lot of people out there on the net who have no idea how to spell or what words mean. (Its true, its true!) I don't know why I use words like prolly and chyx. I feel it just makes my writing more personal to use abnormal words that I made up, you know? I talk like I write. And when you're talking among friends and family, you tend to use slang and colloquialisms that wouldn't be considered "proper" by your high school English teacher. I do the same thing when I write.
Another reason I do this is because of a story one of my high school English teachers told about how she was offended when the conductor on her train said the train was platforming. That's obviously not proper English. However, when you think about it, that's how slang gets started. People use words the wrong way and it spreads among a population. And I just find it fascinating. I know there are words and expressions that I've been able to inject into the local populace and its just cool. Its just cool how all these variations in the English language occur in different parts of the US and other English speaking places. They're all speaking the same language, but then people just put their own spin on it, and in some cases, it sticks and eventually settles in to normal conversation. So all these places have their own brand of English and it just interests me as to how certain words and expressions become a part of the language. Cool, huh?
