geebsAnother day, some more touring of Paris. Went up the Eiffel tower this morning. Strangely, the armed soldiers guarding the place were armed with the FA MAS F1, rather than the new G2 model with the full handguard; You know I'm a freak when I'm at a famous monument, and the first thing I notice is the guns the soldiers are armed with. Anyhoo, it was way too frickin' cold waiting at the base. And it was pretty cold up top as well (only went up to the second level) but it provided a good view of the city.
Next, went into the heart of the city, did some browsing at the Galerie Lafayette, then ate at Mickey D's for lunch. Heh, Quarter Pounders are really called Royales w/ Cheese. And they give you packet of some special sauce for your fries. I think its some sort of spicy mayo? 7500centfish showed up as I was typing this up, but alas, isabel79 she did not see this Marius looking fellow.
Anyhoo, afterwards, went down to the palace of Versailles. That's a huge frickin' place. Talk about excess, no wonder the peasants were so pissed. Anyways, after taking a tour inside, wandered the gardens in back. There was gunfire coming from somewhere. Like someone was target shooting or something. so I was wandering this way and that to find the source. I know, I hear gunfire, and my first instinct is to go towards it, I really am a wacko. Wandered off the beaten path, but turned back before I could find it because I was deep somewhere were no other people were. I mean, there were no signs saying I couldn't be where I was, but it didn't look touristy.
Anyways, just got back from that, and will have dinner at a Cabaret in a few hours.
