Ah, back home now. Frak, I'm tired as a dog now. I'm a little peeved that my plan A for this upcoming server move before the renovation work fell through. But, thanks to a little trick called, "I'm a genius'" (I still call Gnoll the Gnoll, but I'll give him props for coming up with one of my favortie sayings.) only a minimal amount of change was required for me to tweak my plan.
Now, for that Lost commentary: So on the Lostaway side of the island, Sawyer plays the tape for Sayid, and they reveal Naomi to the rest of the castaways. Then Jack and Juliet show up and she's all, "No really, I'm one of you guys now, I'm just playing double agent!" And Jack knows all this too, he just didn't tell them because he didn't know how he was wanting to handle this impending attack. What the frak though, what's with being all secretive? Its not like there's a spy in the camp, or even a suspicion there's one. He's surprised no one trusts him when he doesn't trust them?!
Anyways, its a Ben-centric ep. When Locke shows up at camp with his father's corpse, everyone's in awe. Ben's pretty pissed too, because it looks like he's losing his hold over the Others. In fact, when Mikhail shows up and tells them about Naomi, Locke beats the crap out of Mikhail and when Ben asks them to stop Locke, no one listens! Locke wants Ben to take him to this mysterious Jacob. Who's either a discombublated spirit with telekinetic powers, or Ben's bat-shit crazy (well, he might be bat-shit crazy either way) and he has an imaginary friend he talks to and its Ben with the teek powers and he's attributing it to this guy "Jacob" whom only he can see. Locke thinks Ben's putting on a show though. But he did hear a freaky voice saying "help me!"
In the flashback, we learn Ben's a lying liar who lies and he wasn't born on the island. Turns out his dad was Roger Workman. Roger and his wife were hiking, and Ben was born prematurely. (What seven month preggers lady goes on a hike?) His mom dies in childbirth, but as his dad gets help, he bumps into a couple on the road (near Portland, apparently). They end up being Dharma folks, and the guy gives Ben's dad a job, as a workman. He was hoping for something more exciting like a research position, but nope, they made him a janitor! Ha! He turns into a drunk who hates Ben and whom he blames for his wife's death since Ben came two months early.
Anwyays, so Ben and his dad are on the island now, and he befriends some girl named Annie, who's fate we don't learn of when Ben's all grown up. We learn that the dharma initiative erected the fence to keep out the "hostiles", island natives who mysteriously attack. So there's shootouts every once in a while. Eventually, young Ben starts seeing his mom. She leads him to the fence, but stops him before he fries himself. The next time, he deactivates the fence and wanders into the jungle and supposedly meets Jacob. Flash forward to several years later and Ben's all growed up. he takes a ride with his dad (to the spot where Hurley finds him, I guess), then Ben kills him with poison gas. When he returns to the Dharma compound, everyone has been poisioned as well. I guess this is how the hostiles took over.
In the present, Ben shows Locke the mass grave where they buried the bodies. Then Ben shoots him! And kicks him into the grave. Since Locke was still alive and breathing when we cut away, I'm guessing he's still alive, but we're gonna be led to believe he was dead. Anyways, as Locke lies there dying, Ben asks, "What did Jacob tell you?". Locke replies "Help Me." So we get a brief comic routine where Ben thinks Locke is asking for help. But Ben eventually figures out what he meant, and leaves Locke dying in the mass grave,

Date: 2007-05-10 03:19 pm (UTC)Yeah, I was mixing up details there. At first I wasn't sure that was Richard, so I assumed it was Jacob. Then when I made my commentary later, I had forgotten that it was Richard Ben saw out there.
