May. 9th, 2007 11:43 amJust watched the season finale of The Unit. Since Colonel Ryan's wife is only on every so often, I forget that she talks funny. I mean, whenever she was talking with her husband, I was totally thrown off by the way she was pronouncing things. Or rather the way she over-annunicated. Its as bad as Anna on the OC (and what was up with her as well, it still baffles me to this day why she talks like that!). I was wondering if the actress playing the colonel's wife was Canadian or something weird (or even the character). But I guess she's from Massachusets. I guess they do talk funny up there. Anyhoo, spoiler cut:
So the Unit comes back from a mission to nab some double-agent and find out the Unit has been taken off duty and are under investigation. I guess its the army, but I still find it silly to be charged with a crime, but not know what that crime in because its classified. It makes it easy to railroad you, I guess. Anyways, the colonel was objecting and telling them it would be grave to decommision the Unit, but isn't there like multiple redundancy anyways? And not purposefully. It seems like several groups developed when they were first coming up with special operations units, and they seemed to grow, and by the modern day, each got so big that combining them together or just cutting some loose would be more hassle than its worth. Besides, I'm guessing they had those charges for a while, and the military and washington would wait until they had a backup in place to take over their duties before even pursuing this. The machine has to keep rolling on, and everyone's expendable because there is such redundancy.
Anyways, so Tiffy leaves Mac because he's somehow turned into a psycho jerk. I mean, I know he was a little hot headed before, but he's slowly been morphing into a caricature. Grey disappeared, whether he was grabbed by the CIA, or went into hiding, we don't know. Kim pressures the Gnoll to take the job with the CIA. Mac and Hector end up being held for trial, while Jonas change his pay status so all but $50 of his monthly check goes to his wife. This way, he can disappear by faking like it looked like the CIA grabbed him, and since he's missing, he's still on active duty status and thus his wife continues to get paid. With that settled, he goes to live in Panama. Unfortunately, Bob's first CIA mission is to find Jonas. Like that wasn't obvious.
