So, I saw the 2008 Lancer Evolution X (link goes to the Prototype X going around the car shows, but my sources tell me the prototype X is 99% what the actual Evo X will be like) has a dual clutch transmission mated to steering wheel paddle shifters. Righteous, I heartily approve! I think more sporty cars should have such things! I mean, its dumb to get a sporty car w/o a manual transmission. But while people are all, "manuals are not bad once you practice enough", it still seems like too much effort for driving. Why not avoid the whole hassle of having to hold down the clutch pedal while shifting? Even better when you don't even have to take your hands off the wheel to do the shifting. Its the "twenty-one" century, as a certain asian fellow used to say! Why not have the performance of a manual, but the ease of an automatic!?
Speaking of cars, interesting ep of Drive tonight. So we find out why the sponsors are so interested in Mal being in the race. Apparently he used to be a wheelman? And finally, he gave up the old Ford POS pick-up for a decent car. His old Dodge Challenger, in fact. I had a feeling once they showed that picture of him and his "first love" that he would get his car back some time for the race. Its still silly though, that despite being held up in Gainesville for like hours, he somehow manages to catch up and blow past everyone! Ah'm skeptical.
Ah, they had Sasha Barrese (from the short-lived Run of the House!) as a hottie bounty hunter driving a sweet looking new Mustang. But like Mal, hermano has some mysterious criminal past. And rich brother is cutting himself off from their father? I guess it makes sense to get rid of the cards, but how are they gonna pay for stuff? I was thinking the same thing about Wendy. Didn't they said her husband cut off her credit cards? And I'm still trying to figure out her deal. After Mal, she's the most scary and mysterious contestant. Well, even that's debatable. I mean, we know Mal's a bad-ass, but something about Wendy is creepy. I'd watch my back if I were Taryn Manning.
Army guy's story is still kinda boring, but his wife still has a totally hot body. And sick dad and poor man's Lindsay Lohan are only slightly more interesting. Though if I were his doctor, and he was talking all funny like that, I'd be thinking, "Are you okay? You seem to have lost your mind!" I mean, the doc doesn't know he's trying to cover the whole dying thing up from his daughter, so it seems like he's talking nonsense. Coupled with the fact that he's, you know, dying, wouldn't the doc worry this is some weird symptom of the disease?!
I guess its kinda refreshing that 24 has a whole new arc for the rest of the season. For the first time, its not one of those, "Oh, the terrorist attack we were taking care of the first half of the season was just a ruse to hide the REAL attack!" Although, it still seems to be same old same old. In the White House, we have a Palmer having to fight off someone trying to usurp power. And Jack has to go against CTU and the government because he's a rebel who doesn't follow any rules but his own! But its okay, because he's trying to save someone he loves! And he gets Chloe do something illegal to help him! Though she fesses up to Buchanan this time. So, Ricky is able to stop Jack, but then Jack calls the prez who signs off on Jack's plan, but then since the prez becomes incapacitated, the plan is scrapped, so Jack has to go off on his own again.
Heh, they mentioned Curtis! Ida know though, were he and Jack really friends? I mean, how many times did Jack knock him out or whatever to carry out his own plan? Same thing with Tony. So the whole threatening Ricky by being all, "I shot my friend in the throat, what do you think I'm gonna do to you?!" I think the fact that he's doing that to Ricky means they are becoming friends!
Oh, and the Grindhouse dropping down to 10th this past weekend. cliffV('What's up with that?!')
