What's up with that two hour ep of the Closer last night if the show isn't actually coming back until next year? I mean, that's kinda random. Monk did that as well a couple of weeks ago, but at least that was a Christmas ep. Is it because it has to do with spies/defectors and they're trying to capitalize on recent news? I totally forgot the season ended with that shooting in the squad room. So its 4 months later, and Brenda, Provenza, and Sanchez are all on paid administrative leave over the shooting. Taylor capitalizes on Brenda's absence to take apart her squad until only Flynn and Gabriel are left. He's generally acting like an ass, up to the point of being dismissive of Flynn and Gabriel even though they run circles around Taylor's own men.

Lucky for Brenda and her squad (not so lucky for a murder victim), the latest body to drop in their lap was a young man trying to defect who had important info about terrorists that he was going to pass along in exchange for immunity and American citizenship for himself and an unknown friend (whom we later find out is his father, who conceived him out of wedlock, which is of course a big no no in their culture) Of course, the only way he could get ambushed was if there was a mole in the CIA. I forgot Brenda use to work for the CIA, and apparently was used to root out moles and convince potential defectors to defect. So, the CIA goes to "retired" assets, includng Mr. Feeny and Brenda, offering to make the FBI investigation into the shooting that put her on administrative leave to go away and get her reinstated. I won't go into details, but needless to say, she gets she and her squad put back together and manages to find the mole.

Of course, it was pretty obvious who the mole was, given the head of the LA office was played by the guy who played Chapelle on 24. Its like, he hardly does anything for most of the ep other than ask Brenda how her investigation is going, so you're all "Gee, I wonder if the guy who's there in the background but played by someone who's been in more than a few things will play a bigger role?" The casting was definitely weird. Besides Mr. Feeny, one of the other CIA peeps was Edna from Everwood. Edna and Mr. Feeny as CIA agents? Heh.

Tuesday night round up:

On GG, Logan finds out about the incredibly weird Marty-Rory pretending not to know each other thing. See, I can't even say Logan was just being jealous, because that's a frickin' weird sitch. Why are they being all secretive and acting weird? Anybody would be suspicious if their gf and some boy she used to be good friends with and had a huge crush on her were acting like that. So, he reveals the truth to Lucy, who is understandably pissed. I doubt he really did that just because "he couldn't lie to such a nice girl", but he does have a point, if Rory and Marty are her friend and bf respectively, why are they propagating a lie and making her look like a fool. Okay, they're not exactly trying to make a fool of her, but it doesn't look good for her to have two such people lying to her for no good reason. Of course, its not like Rory and Marty cheated or anything, so Lucy and Olivia giving her the cold shoulder is a little drama queenish. And Rory's crying over this! Its not like they were only friends! They weren't even her best friends! Where the hell are Paris and Lane?!

Lorelai and Chris are in a rocky place as well. I don't think their marriage is going to last too much longer. Frankly, it doesn't seem like Lorelai wants to be married to Christopher at all. I mean, yeah, dealing with her mom and the party planning and that crowd may be harrowing for her, but between this and last ep, she doesn't seem fully committed. So i won't fault Chris for being a little pissy. I mean, it seems like half the stuff she doesn't want to do for this wedding thing is just to be contrary to her mother, but how does that look to him? And her mom did have a point in the end. For a relationship to work, there has to be compromise, and you know what a brat she can be.

Things have gone from bad to worse with Luke. After Luke's confrontation, Anna's keeping April away, forcing Luke to get a lawyer. Alas, the lawyer tells him these case are always a mess, and that his "reasonable" demands, while entirely reasonable, are prolly unattainable. Poor guy. I know Anna prolly finds it inconvenient now having to share her daughter with someone else after it being just the two of them for all these years, but its total BS. Its not like Luke was a deadbeat. She kept April from him, he didn't abandon her.

Anyways, with Luke and Chris being in such pissy moods, we have the weirdest frickin' scene ever. Where the two just see each other in the street, duke it out for a few minutes and then go on their merry way. WTF?!

Damn, a lot of stuff happenned this ep. Where to start? Let's go with the cuteness that is Matt and Julie. Ah, young love. And how hysterical is it, the Coach being all protective father and his "You want a drink son?" and Saracen being all, "No thanks, I'm driving!" and the coach being all, it was a joke and thinking "you're taking my underage daughter out, you think I'm going to let you be drinking alcohol around her?" Its a flop at first, what with Landry picking out his wardrobe (Members Only? HA!!!) and then Eragon being sold out (Really?! I guess there's nothing else better to do in Podunk, but still, I can't see that as the kind of movie selling out in Rural Texas) and trying to be all cool and I'm a football player trying to get tickets. But then Landry calls telling Matt his grandma's having a freakout, so he goes home, pretends to be his gramps to calm his grandma down, going so far as to sing to his grams. Heh, Julie's so touched she's actually crying. Heh, Matt thinks the singing makes him look like an idiot, but Landry sets him straight and lets him know what's obvious to everyone else, the whole sensitive I take care of my poor sick grandma all by myself thing puts him gv('So in there!') Of course, being goody goody, he's not going to really use that to get in her pants.

Anyways, the cat's out of the bag about Lyla and Tim. Its positively scandalous and the two are practically pariahs. Tim has it worse though- while Street still having the loyalty of the team is kinda sweet, the fact that they demonstrate this by taking bats to Tim's pickup is kinda messed up. But the fact that he takes it in stride and still plays hard for the team, even injured, earns his teammates' respect back. Tyra's not so forgiving though. She's not pissed he cheated, she's pissed he cheated with Lyla. Lyla gets some insults tossed her way, but she's also still totally in love with Jason and is more upset that she broke his heart and he won't forgive her and she was unfaithful. (Though geez, its only HS, its not like she was married to him!) Buddy shows he's not too slimy by actually missing the Panther's comeback because his daughter is important- even more important than football.

Speaking of Buddy, the mayor enlists him and Tammy to get more suitable accomdations at their opponent's hometown (though seeing it as they drove in in their buses and cars, i'd be frickin' freaked in that town- its like the bad part of town, except the whole town is like that) Heh, Tammy didn't really have a choice in the matter. I'm amused how she's trying to get out of it and the mayor totally ignores her and tells her to slut it up and use her assets to convince them to give them better hotel rooms. Tammy and Buddy good cop-bad cop it, and it actually works. Tammy knows how to work the charm. And she's extremely milf-y.

We also learn Smash and his family used to live in Bad Town, but left after his father died. Its all mysterious throughout the ep about the circumstances of the father dying and them leaving, but apparently when he died, his mistress was in the car with him. Smash is still using as well, but at least he looks extremely guilty about it. Or at least lying to his fellow church peeps to get the money for said "pick me ups".

Owel, the actual game- very close, almost scoreless even into the 4th quarter. The opposing team gets a safety, but the team actually rallies together, despite all the crap that's been going on between everyone, and they manage to get a TD before the clock runs out. Finally, they're back to a winning record. Oh, and Matt kisses Julie in celebration. Heh, he's lucky the coach didn't see him do that. Though I'm guessing the coach won't be too pleased with him next ep.

I'm still trying to figure out the Eragon thing. Another movie listed in the marquee was Flicka, and the same two guys wrote both (Mark Rosenthal and <a href="http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0465199/>Lawrence Konner</a>), but I'm stumped as to what their connection to FNL is. They also wrote Superman IV, so maybe it was just a reference to their awesomeness.
