That was an interesting Veronica Mars tonight. But as someone on the TWoP forums said, wow, she has chemistry with everybody! I mean, you could cut the sexual tension between her, Duncan, Logan, and Weevil with a knife! Although D-L and L-W were a little ho-yay. what's up with that? Anyways, what a way to end until next year. So [livejournal.com profile] clevemire, I assume after the turn there was a king and queen out there? I don't watch you guys a lot, but would Weevil really have gone all in with an a-2? I wasn't expecting the confrontation between Jake Kane and Veronica though. I mean, they were focused on the poker money theft plot and the Aaron Echols stalker plot that I didn't think they'd actually continue on with the mystery of the crosshaired pics. And Jake's reaction was definitely surprising, going up to his wife being all accusatory. It was also interesting to learn that Logan wasn't always a dick, because I was skeptical that Veronica would date a guy who's best friend was as big an asshole as Logan has been shown as since the show started. Or rather date a guy who would be okay with his friend being such an asshole. It will be interesting to see how things turn out when the show returns with Keith spotting the Jake-Veronica argument and Logan's pops getting stabbed.

And seriously, Curb Your Enthusiasm can be so insane sometimes! Not that that's a bad thing, because it can get pretty hysterical.

Logan was holding AJ and Weevil had A2... a T would make Logan a straight... and they said Logan would win if any but 2 cards came out. So that means the board has to have either KQxx or Q98xx or 987x, and Logan's hand would have to make four to a flush (because otherwise all three of Weevil's remaining 2's would be good). The most likely board to get them both all in would be Logan holding AJs (I don't think we saw the suit of his cards), and the board being A987, with two to Logan's suit. And that's almost surely more information than you wanted.

The thing that impresses me about this show is their ability to have self contained episodes that always advance the overall plot. Shows like Alias and 24 have lots of episodes that you'd be totally lost in if you didn't see the one before it, and shows like X-Files always hinted at moving the bigger plot along, but never did anything (was it aliens? nope. Or was it? spooky! let's show the smoking guy to make it seem like something important's happened here, but never mention it again).

But yeah, if only 2 cards could help Weevil, wouldn't that be obvious from the turn? I mean, even if he doesn't know what Logan has, Weevil would know he doesn't really have a hand, especially if he ended up winning with a pair of twos by catching one of those twos on the river. So why go all in, especially when there's a straight and flush out there (that he has no piece of) with ace high and a 2 kicker?

And yeah, VM is pretty good at that. It manages to not let the "big arc" get stale while doing a case of the week format. I'm assuming they'll resolve the lilly kane murder by the end of this season though? I guess maybe she won't solve all the mysteries by seasons end?

Ida know, I watched the first ep, a middle ep, and one near the end (but not the season finale, I don't think) of Alias last year (was it??) and didn't really feel like I missed anything or was lost at all.

All they had going on during the season that changed was that retarded tension between Sydney and that dopey guy who got married to some [OF COURSE] baddie chick while Sydney was in a coma between seasons or whatever. The three eps I did see seemed to cover all the "sister" and "Sloan" plot stuff that needed to be known to make that part of it understandable (for me, anyway).
