Jul. 27th, 2004 01:53 pmHad this odd dream last night. I don't know if this is how the dream started, but the earliest I remember in it was sitting in the cafeteria of my old school taking a test. Apparently my Arithmancy OWLs (I've obviously read too much HP recently). Not sure how I did on them, but afterwards went to this house owned by thie middle aged black lady, and I was talking to her and her granddaughter about them. Some other peeps were there also, because they told me about how one of my stories was printed in this booklet they were handing out at Dragoncon. It was either Andy or
zarathrustra94 or
turdburgler. It was a cleaned up version of course, and they changed some of the names because the story was submitted for some contest. Apparently, they thought Abdul was totally despicably evil. Though they changed the name and made the character a white guy. Anyways, there's this knock at the door, and its this Deckard/Spooner anti-robot kinda cop, played by that Cole Hauser dude from Pitch Black (and is that him in the upcoming Paparazzi?). Apparently, he's hunting me. He pulls a gun on me, and I'm a little fuzzy on the details, but I run out of there and this armed hover drone starts shooting at me. Somehow I elude him and make it back inside and the lady gives me an uzi. Apparently her house is also a church of some weird religion and that's why she has an uzi around. So I blow away the drone and run away. I end up at the Astoria Blvd N stop, and the roomie is there waiting. He just got back from Dragon-con and bought this big-ass sword. He asked me to go back down to the newsstand and buy a lotto ticket, but the train came and we took it though we ended up back at Astoria Blvd after we got off. Then we went down to his car and we're driving back to my parent's house. Then I woke up.
And a good thing too, given I overslept and I was meeting
psyched_out and his wife for lunch at Pho Lai today. I thought it seemed too quiet. Then I looked at the clock and it was 1050! I had set my alarm, unfortunately, when the power went out last night and I reset my clock, I mixed up the AM and PMs. Luckily, I made it on time. Pho Lai was pretty good. Though their small bowl was pretty filling, I'd be amazed to see what on earth their large bowl is like. Then again, Pho is always a good deal for your money. Afterwards, dropped his wifey safely off to her seminar in the city and am now back just lounging around here at home.
Last night? Watched 50 First Dates. Pretty cool movie. Sweet use of the Beach Boys "Wouldn't it Be Nice", which is a nice song, even though its like so naive! Like being older is so great! They also had that way cool ukelele version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", who does that version anyways? Its like played all over the place, particularly when someone dies but like in a peaceful, they're dead, but have lived a fulfilling life sort of way. But yeah, it was funny. Her brother and father having to sit through The Sixth Sense a billion times and act like they don't know the twist? HA! Though what if someone hadn't seen The Sixth Sense and just hadn't had the chance to watch it yet and saw this movie first? But that would be a fucked up problem to have to deal with, but how convenient is it that, it resets on a daily basis? Though I guess its because she loses it when she goes to sleep. Though I was surprised they didn't actually cure her, and that she still has to watch the tape every morning still. Its sweet that she has so many people that care about her, but how fucked up with that be to spend an hour or so every morning just catching up with your life only to forget it all the next morning?
Caught WWE in a while. Wow, they actually spent the second hour on a 60 minute iron match between Benoit and HHH. I would figure it would be too boring for TV, then again, I guess the old 60 minute matches between Ric Flair and Steamboat where prolly on TV rather than PPV. And the WWE Diva search contest, it like 2004 PMOY Carmela Decesare, 10s/Son of the Beach's Amy Weber, and the twins from the Man Show vs like nobodies, that's like being ringers. Okay, maybe being PMOY isn't that big, nor is being a juggy, but I would say Amy Weber had a decent television career. Personally, I'm pulling for Carmela to win. She's hot! Though not puiling enough to call and vote.
