Finally back at work, though I should have taken it off and had a full week and a half vacation. Saw The Bourne Supremecy on Friday night. The theater was retardedly crowded. I mean, I've never seen it this crowded, there was no place to park, we had to like park in an industrial park across the streak. And then the line to get it went out of the theater and around the corner to borders. cliffV('What's up with that?!') I didn't think the movie was that popular! Anyways, it was cool. I don't think its better or worse than the first one. And again, what's Julia Stiles doing in these flicks again? I mean, its so odd because she's so underutilized! [livejournal.com profile] clevemire theorizes she must be a huge fan of the books and just wants to be part of the project, because she has more star power than this! Its such a small part for an actress of her name! Actually, just watching the E! Behind the Scenes for the Bourne Supremacy right now, and I'm surprised they go out of their way to not reveal a certain development in the film. I mean, one can guess what I'm talking about from watching the trailers, but usually, these behind the scenes things end up revealing big plot points, so it was surprising that they didn't let it slip out. Like, Matt Damon was about to say it to Julia Stiles in one of the scenes they showed, but then they cut away before he says it.

What else? Finished up the Gunparade March DVDs. Its not as fatalistic and heavy and depressing as Evangelion. Not as much action as you'd expect from a series about an earth invaded and ravaged by aliens that has taken out such a huge chunk of the population that kids in high school have to be doing the fighting in mechs. But that's okay, it makes up for it with teen drama. The series definitely has a lot of neat characters. That one guy has a cool hat. And the maintenance crew girls are hysterical. Although that cat is freaking huge!

And I liked the way it ended, no apocalyptic battle where almost all the characters are killed except for the two main love interests. Hayami and Shibamura finally hook up, and its just business as usual for unit 5121, they're on another mission. But with it ending at the beginning of the new millenium, and Hayami getting his spine and finally stopping to be an idiot and professing his love for her, its an ending of hope. I mean, yeah, the aliens are still around, and the series makes no indication that Earth's made any headway into getting rid of the invaders, but with an ending like that, you can guess that everything will work out in the end. I was a little worried in the beginning, when Mibuya got killed, that the unit would get slowly whittled down until it was just Hayami and Shibamura left at the end and they'll finally destroy the aliens, like so many other similar series, so its refreshing. Especially since the characters are so likable, you'd hate to see them die. It did make that Tanabe ep a little exciting, because you worried she might actually bite it. Though in retrospect, they built that up so much that it was obvious she wasn't gonna die. Had they just said things are finally looking up for the girl with the horrible luck, with no one mentioning how it could be the calm before the storm, she woulda definitely been dead. All in all, a good series, but it coulda been longer.

So in that Maroon 5 video for "She Will Be Loved", he's having an affair with his girlfriend's mother?! And when Rachel Perry is describing the video having Kelly Preston, she says "Battlefield Earth's Kelly Preston". Surely, she coulda come up with a better movie than that, because who wants to be associated with that movie. She coulda used Twins. Or Jerry Mcguire, that would've been a good one. I mean, its not like Battlefield Earth is recent either, so if you're gonna go for something old, might as well gone for something that the public actually liked.
