I had Dave Chappelle as R. Kelly's "Piss on You" stuck in my head (caught it during a re-run of Chappelle last night while flicking throught the channels) I heard someone say its not based on an actual R. Kelly song. I thought it was. The Piss on You remix though is, though I can't remember what R. Kelly song its based on. In any case, its no longer stuck in my head, having been replaced by Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out for a Hero". That was on the Footloose soundtrack? I never saw the movie (or if I did, I remember nothing about it) but does Kevin Bacon like ride forth on a steed to rescue Sarah Jessica Parker or something? Because when I hear this song, I think of heroes charging into battle like in Shrek 2, or the Paramount ad before some of their videos where they show clips of various action movies. Given that the movie was about a town where dancing is outlawed or something, I doubt it. Unless John Lithgow had someone held prisoner or was gonna burn them at the stake for participating in that sinful dancing.

Owel, will prolly hit Oxford after work then grab some things from Target. My bathroom's due for a cleaning. And I just realized, after last night, the TV season is over! Augh!

geez, one of the first albums i ever bought was that soundtrack, but i can't remember it on there offhand--i'm guessing that you're not questioning this but that you already know its on the soundtrack--ah, i guess i just listened to the first 3 songs over and over (the title track, "lets hear it for the boy", and "almost paradise")--that bonnie tyler song was a bit too epic for my 8-year-old head...

but maybe i couldn't recall it because it was overridden by the fact that "holding out for a hero" was the theme song of the 8-hour "saturday night wrestling" fest that channel 69 used to host back in the day--if i remember correctly, they showed a clip of a midnight scene with a guy riding on a horse (lassoing cows?) while the song played--never could find out what it had to do with wrestling, but its still in my head 15 years later so i guess it did its job...

Yeah, it was definitely on there. Its a cool soundtrack. Strangely enough, when i was in the Philippines the music video channel was showing "Let's Here it For the Boy". Its like, what century are they in? They also had this hysterical video featuring these Filipino Gangsta rappers. But I digress. Whenever I hear "Let's Hear it For the Boy" now though, I always think of that Will and Grace ep with that gay chorus that Matt Damon tried to join by pretending to be gay. That's one of the songs they did.

As for that clip, was it just some random cowboy, or like one of the cowboy themed wrestlers?

it shocks me that i can still play "lets hear it for the boy" perfectly in my head, even down to the drum fills and the various intonations of "oooh"--i'm sure that i'll forget something really important due to that friggin' song's permanent resting place in my head...

no cowboy wrestlers or anything, just some cowboy--if i remember it correctly (maybe i could've if it wasn't for deniece williams) it looked like it could've passed for a winn-dixie commercial--i guess channel 69 spent most of their operating budget on host joe pedecino's dining expenses...

Joe Pedecino's son Vince was my CA for a year at Tech... and he introduced me to Roger Mosley's daughter. It was like they were in some kinda clique for the children of B (and in Vince's case C, or D) list celebrities.
