I'm so tired, I didn't even watch my tape of the O.C. kast night. Only watched the PVRed Smallville and Angel since that's something the roomie also watches. But why wasn't I watching it live, you ask? Because I went to dinner with the roomie and [livejournal.com profile] psyched_out amd his wifey at the Woodfire Grill. One of the good things to come out of having lived with Krug and Scott is the food benefits. I mean I regularly get awesome home cooking at home due to the roomie's skill in the kitchen. And both he and Scott are all into trying new restaurants so my lazy ass gets to try out places I'd be too well, lazy, to ssek out on my own. Or also not adventurous to try if it were just me.

It was pretty awesome. Lots of appetizers. One of the ones we got was the Olive Oil tasting, where they provided three kinds of olive oil for bread dipping. Krug and Scott like one, I can't remember which one that was though (the french or spanish?) while Sato and I preferred the thick, unfiltered one (I'm pretty sure the guy said it was made in greece) I had a chorizo and jamon pizza, which tasted awesome, and I traded half a slice for a piece of Krug's salmon. It was lightly cooked, served medium rare, and was also quite tasty. Then for desert we got the selection of 5 cheeses, which were all very strong, and I got a chocolate truffle cake with caramel ice cream and Krug got some sort of strawberry napoleon thing. All in all, it was a great meal.

Anyways, got home, watched the PVRed Smallville and Angel as quickly as possible so I could get to bed, as I've been feeling really crappy from lack of sleep all week. And I wanted to be somewhat fresh for today because there'll be newsies coming around taking photos for some article they're doing on high technology.

And now for some TV commentary:

An interesting Smallville, even if as Krug said, her truth power was a little too "deus ex machina". I mean, finally finding out the truth about Lionel killing his parents that way? And did Chloe really think that a password protected voicemail box would be any problem for Lionel? She knows what he's capable of, and he's a billionare with a lot of resources. And what's with the sudden Joey Potterisms in all these WB shows as of recent? Lana planning to leave for an art school in Paris? Or on OTH, Karen telling Keith she needs to find herself and define herself in a way other than Lucas' mother. So is she gonna spend as much time trying to "find herself" as Joey did in s2 DC?

And spekaing of OTH, wow, they really try hard to make that Dan guy look like the biggest asshole ever. Telling son #1 to abort his baby, because that's what she told his mom to do to him but she didn't and look what happened to her. Then telling son #2 that he's gonna fail at living independently and will come crawling back to him? Glad to see that whole Lucas seeing Nathan and Peyton kiss and misinterpreting it for more than it actuall was was resolved quickly. And Nathan having fallen in love with Hayley? Whenever I think of these teenage couples using the "l-word", I'm reminded of Natasha Lyonne in American Pie: "If you really want to get into bed with her, tell her you love her. That's how I was duped." I'm so distrustful!

That was a funny little ep, especially Connor's whole reaction to the super power thing. And I wonder if it was just the people near the breaking of the cube that got their memories back, i.e. Wesley, Fred/Illyria, and Connor, or if everyone did. Though the only two other people who it would matter to are Gunn and Lorne. Then again if it was everyone then his faux parents would forget and I guess the old demon guy did say if it was cracked near people with altered memories it could make them remember the truth, not "if its detroyed, all the changes to memory will be undone". And Connor so obvioualy knows the truth even though he's acting like he doesn't. Or I guess he's just doing what Wes said in the scene beforehand, choosing the fake memories.

But speaking of memories, that always confuses me when they do things like that. So Wes doesn't remember Connor, but he remembers Angel fighting Sahjahn? What did he think he was fighting him for? And did he remember Justine cutting his throat, but it was done for some totally other reason? And does he not remember keeping her in a cage in his closet?

And Fred is looking way hot in the leather cat-suit.

Lots to do today, there's work, then laundry and I still have an ep of OC to see. Finishing off some books and transcribing my story for DA:V from my head to hard copy. Thst should be interesting. Oh, and I also need to see the next two eps of thst Gunslinger Girl DVD I rented from Oxford. Looks pretty interesting so far.

that was possibly the most gluttonous non-buffet meal i've ever had in my life--it didn't dawn on me until afterwards--3 appetizers, a full entree, 5 cheeses & 2 desserts, with a glass of wine and an afterward coffee--i weighed 143 before i went, 147 after i got back...

it was a pineapple napoleon, not strawberry--did you try it? it was good, especially with the coconut ice cream...

and i hate to say it and lose my food gourmand status, but i couldn't really taste a difference in any of the 3 olive oils--i felt like i was the odd one out, because everyone talked about how different they all were, but it was lost on me as much as i tried...

you need to come down here and try out one of these authentic south mexican taquerias near my workplace--they have this thing called a tlayuda which is basically a mexican pizza--a huge tortilla that's not really flat, with a couple different types of cheese (including an oaxaquenan string cheese!) and lettuce and tomatoes and avocados, and you can get chorizo on top of it all! its possibly the messiest thing i've ever eaten, and full-on you...

Sounds awesome. Perhaps one of the days I'm off in the upcoming weeks once I move to weekend days I could drop by you for lunch.
