Back at work again. And its cold. Seriously, I know I say this like every week, but what is up with Atlanta weather? With Lent over, I can play games again. Haven't gotten back into FFX-2, just been playing Soul Calibur 2 on the new big TV. Its pretty neat. Though some re-wiring needs to be done, so the video inputs go directly to the telly instead of through the receiver. Then we can have PiP again. And cool, the PiP on this thing can do a side by side deal in addition to the small box in the big box thing. So one could watch satellite and a DVD at the same time (though you could only hear the audio of one or the other) or play a game and watch either of the aforementioned at the same time, without anything being obscured. Awesome!

Anwyays, saw Kill Bill II. It was pretty cool. 24 was pre-empted because of the press conference thing, but at least Gilmore Girls and OTH were still on:

Though I guess it was only one of them getting wild, and she didn't get that wild. Hey, at least Rory didn't drag her mom along with her. And seriously, what are the chances of them suddenly bumping into Madeline and Louisa? And as Paris said, how did they ever become friends. I mean, they get along well enough, but how on earth did they become friends initially given how vastly different they are? But, yeah, never did I expect them to have Paris and Rory kiss on this show. But seriously, it was nice to see an ep with the two of them together. I don't mean in that way, hanging out as friends! I've always liked their dynamic together. Well, and I also like it on shows when two former enemies become the best of friends.

And they keep pounding in the idea that the professor dude is about to dump Paris. And more Rory/Dean stuff? Is she gonna break up their marriage? And he can't speak to her anymore. How Friends-ish.

Do high schools really ever hold auctions to bid guys to the highest bidder? That just seems like something they do on TV schools, like the "pretending to be a married couple" for accounting class or "raising a baby using a sophisticated doll (or an egg) for the baby" project for health. This did have the usual results of your typical TV charity auction. Relationships shaken up? Check. Dorky person ending up with Attractive Popular person? Check. A misunderstanding where one person thinks they're geting some and the other doesn't? Check. Someone seeing the couple hanging out and misinterpreting the situation? Check.

I heard a rumor going around that Brooke got knocked up by Lucas, but I had totally forgotten about it until halfway through the show. Then her whole speech with Minkus in the limo makes perfect sense! I did like how they didn't give you any real clues and had the news come out of the blue. In that way, Keith's proposal to Karen was also a huge surprise. I mean, I hadn't heard about anything like that happening beforehand. And when Whitey was telling Keith to not wait, I didn't think he'd actually pull out that ring and propose. I mean, that's a little fast don't you think.

And next week, it looks like Karen slaps the taste out of her sons mouth for getting Brooke preggers. But I do find the showdown between him and Nathan in the locker room annoying. I hate it in movies when some huge conflict erupts just because neither party will take the three seconds to explain the misunderstanding. I'm sure, when Lucas confronts Nathan about kissing Peyton, instead of telling him, "We were just doing that stupid midnight kiss thing required by the auction", he'll get all huffy and act like he has no need to explain himself.

i told you about "slave day" at mt vernon, right? it was a practice that used to take place where the seniors would be auctioned off to the highest bidder, and they'd have to do things for you like carry your books to class, get your lunch, help you on your classwork, etc--i don't know if this was a practice that was unique to mt vernon, or if other schools have some similar function (although surely they would change the name)...alas, the practice stopped after we entered the 90s so i never got to be one myself...

They had it at my school too! About a dozen seniors would volunteer to be auctioned off to raise money for prom or something. Usually the people would just be friends who wanted to watch their friend do their chores or something though. Nothing too tawdry or salacious... that I knew of!! :)
