Mar. 29th, 2004 07:47 amWent to
zarathustra94's Friday night to slay elves. It being Friday, I could have no meat, but alas,
turdburgler was making samiches and
sstrickl or
hippieatheart grilled up some curry-wurst, I wasn't sure whose idear it was. Though they had no buns with it! So, I picked up some crappy Publix sushi on the way there. And yes, fish has never been considered meat for lent! I should know, I've never been a big seafood fan and never really touched the stuff unless I was forced to (until coming to Tech). I mean, I was really admant against the stuff! The parentals tried to get me to eat seafood for those Lenten Fridays, but I always insisted on pizza, meat-free pasta, and if worse came to worse, cheese sandwiches. Then in '95 a cute chick named Daphne (or some other D-name) force-fed me sushi. The same thing happened with eggs. I used to not like eggs at all until a cute ihop waitress insisted I eat the eggs that came with my meal. Both ended up being quite tasty. But that's my weakness. You want me to do something I don't like but prolly won't find too bad once I try it, have a cutie force the issue.
But I digress. I picked up something called "spicy rolls" which ended up being everything they usually put in their spicy tuna rolls, just without the tuna! I was quite put off. I mean, who would eat such a thing sans fish?! Unfortunately, I didn't notice that it had no actual tuna until I opened it. I shoulda picked up a slice of pizza somewhere instead. A big slice with onions and black olives. I hate calling big slices NY style, because having grown up in NY, its normal style to me. Why is do they have to qualify it as NY-style anyways? As far as I'm concerned, that is what pizza should be, and everyone else just got it wrong! How did these take-out chains get so big making the pizzas wrong?! To me I think pizza should be categorized in this way: NY=platonic idea of pizza, deep dish=chicago-style, and pizza with crappy hippy toppings=california-style.
Anyways, Saturday did a double feature with the usual suspects and some of the roomie's home-town friends. Saw Ladykillers first that afternoon. It was pretty amusing. Then that night, went to see Jersey Girl. The Kevin Smith film, not the old Jami Gertz/Dylan Mcdermott romantic comedy which I saw on the plane when
isabel79,
7500centfish, and I went to Mexico city that I have no recollection of. (the old movie, not the trip to Mexico, that is. ) I do remember the other movie on the plane, a Jonathan Silverman/Helen Hunt romantic comedy called Only You (or Solo Tu en espanol!) Anyways, Jersey Girl was pretty cool, its different from Smith's usual fare. Of course, I'm also a sucker for that familial bonding despite hardships and overcoming conflict sort of stuff. Though they could have had just a little more angst between Liv Tyler and Ben Affleck. Not too much more though, cause it would detract from what is supposed to be a father-daughter story.
Sunday, went to Sal Grosso's. Strangely, bumped into Dave Hsu and that Ben (or is Bin) Chen (or is it Chin?) guy on the way in and ended up eating with them. Alas, they raised the Sunday lunch special from $15 to $17.95. But they added some new stuff to the menu. Some grilled chicken selection and this giant spiced sausage thing. The sausage was very tasty. I also forgoed the salad bar to leave more room for the meats. That's some good stuff there! Seriously, some of that stuff melts in your mouth. It makes me wonder how in the world anyone could not like beef!
Now I don't normally keep up with sports, but I have been catching Tech's games as of recent. Hey, we made it to the final four. I was a little nervous when it went into OT though, because when that happens, the team I'm rooting for usually loses. (The same goes for seven game series when they go the full seven) But yeah, coming back to campus after the game everyone was getting wild and crazy. Well, not too crazy. Just your usual incessant car honking, screaming, woo-ing and hoo-ing and wot-not. They were egg-cited about it at Church as well. Speaking of, I was noticing the one cute choir girl and the flute chick seem to dress kinda fancy while everyone else is dressed down. I mean, choir girl even had sparkly jeweled earrings that seemed like the kinda thing one would save for special occasions. Not that there was a problem with it. Owel, since I had to hit the ATM at the student center anyways and I was still a little stuffed from lunch, killed some time at the arcade before picking up dinner. Played more of that target shooting game. Did the speed competition. Was able to get through it without even losing a chance! I realized I should force a reload whenever I get a chance, like after clearing a section, rather than tackling a new section on a non-full clip. Also played House of the Dead 3. Actually, I like the pump action as opposed to the shoot off screen for reloading. No need to get off target to reload! Though the left gun on the SC's machine, the pump sticks a little, so it can get hard on you. But the right one is smooth as silk, quick. Of course, I got farther on one try with the heavy one than I did the smooth one.
When talking to the parentals before Alias heard Jennifer Garner and Michael Vartan had broken up in real life? Who dunped who?
