Mar. 19th, 2004 07:42 amOwel, in case you didn't already know, had my surgery on Tuesday and it seems to have gone well. Pops even flew down from NY for a couple of days to help me out. Anyhoo, things are much clearer than before, though I'm told it will take a few days for my eye to adjust. They corrected my vision while they went in there, and while I don't have to lean forward now to read the screen, I'm still having a little trouble reading it for now, the text is still a little blurry. I mean, my distant vision works, and like I said things are much clearer (which is grossing me out because I'm noticing grime in places I was blissfully unaware of before.) but its still difficult reading. Well, I have another doctor's appointment Monday, hopefully the situation will improve by then.
I wish I had a better litmus test for whether my vision has improved. Maybe I should try something requiring hand-eye coordination, like a game. But I gave up video games for lent. Well, I had to correct that to console games, since I had played in the arcade in the Philippines and also when I saw Hidalgo with
zarathustra94 and
turdburgler last Saturday. I didn't even realize I was breaking any rules until C pointed out, "didn't you give up video games?" while I was playing Time Crisis 3. But I digress. An arcade light gun shooter would work. My vision was impairing my performance since I couldn't see guys in the far off distance shooting at me, nor the axes, knives, and grenades being thrown at me. So if I can see those, I'll know my vision has definitely improved.
Oh, Wednesday's South Park was making me a little queasy, what with Butters getting the ninja star in the eye. (And Arrested Development had Elaine playing a dupposedly blind character, what's with all the blidness refs all of a sudden?) Actually, I'm a little freaked out about my eye now, since the parentals kept on warning me not to do this or that. They got me so freaked I get nervous just turning my head too fast. I worry about every cough and sneeze, and when I went to dinner with the roomie, I was dreading what would happen if we got rear ended and I experienced a heavy jolt.
