Jan. 2nd, 2015 08:58 pmNew Year's Eve at the rents was uneventful,
durlxnemesis and
7500centfish weren't around, nor most of the cousins or niece or nephews. Mostly watched the telly with
isabel79 until it was time for the ball to drop. Mother had ordered a couple of samich trays from Subway, a little too much considering the number of people in attendance. I was the only one who grabbed any initially! (Heh, and then the next day Tita E dropped the tray with the remaining samiches, what a waste!) But the tray did include some tuna samiches, which I've always wanted to try, since I don't think I've had a tuna samich in decades. But I didn't want to waste money on a whole samich for like lunch if I didn't like it. But, it was decent, so at least now I know its fine to order.
For New Year's day, went to Jeannie-Jennie's parents' house. I didn't realize my mom's coworker knew her family! Or, if I did, I forgot. Chatted with J's husband about, of all things, football, which E found quite weird. But it was an easy enough subject to small talk about.
Was watching Annie this morning, the 1980s version, I had no idea Mr Warbucks was played by the Big Fish guy! I mean, I guess its because he's fatter in that and the Bourne movies, and he's bald in Annie. (Also, I had thought this Ranking of all things Annie had ranked the '99 version over the '82 version, but I guess I was wrong.) But I digress, while watching this, one of the things I realized, man is Annie incredibly passive-aggressive, laying the guilt on thick. Like is she really okay with Mr Warbucks not wanting to take her to the movies, and she'll just do something else, and movies prolly aren't all they're cracked up to be? Or is she being totally manipulative? All, "Oh, the whole having an orphan stay with you for a week idea is great, even if you don't want me to be that orphan, you should continue with that for an orphan you do like! I'll just go back to my horrible orphanage where I'm living in squalor!" Oh, come off it!
Also, as I've said before, the thing that bugs me about "I Think I'm Going to Like it Here" is it seems so excessive! Why do you need a separate maid to bring you your food and take it away!? Different people to pick up your clothes and your beddings? I mean, couldn't all that be done by a single person? Though I guess he is giving those people employement. But still!
And why do they have dancers on stage before the movie? Isn't that kinda weird to have like a Rockettes-esque show before you watch a movie?
