TV commentary:
Degrassi- I am an idiot, I had been checking the guides on Friday to see when Degrassi was coming back and saw nothing. I mean, tv show favs had mentioned new eps, but it usually flags when shows first show in the world, not in the US. So like it will give the showtimes for shows like Luther, Misfits, Sherlock, and Doctor Who in England, not when it actually shows over here. So I just figured it was showing in Canada, and they were coming to the US at some later point, but apparently they moved it to Thursdays. But luckily, they show the eps on the website.
So new characters- some bitchy girl Zoe who used to be on a teen drama (okay, telling Alli to hang out with people her own age was hilarious!), Miles, the bad boy son of an upcoming mayoral candidate, and his Asian hipster friend Winston "Chewy" Chu. Seriously, the guy wears skinny jeans and bow ties all the time! Who does that?
Ali also meets some French boy during the summer abroad at Paris thing, but I assume he'll only be there for Paris. Gone? Apparently Tori moved away. And skinny Tristan still looks totally weird to me. I guess it wouldn't be so jarring if he also didn't bleach his hair super blond.
Apparently, Canadian hospitals allow cancer patients to have the bfs over for hanky panky. (Oh yeah, Claire definitely has cancer) And I guess Imogen is bi? I mean, she did start out liking Eli when she was first introduced, then moved to Fiona, but now she's on to Adam (which Becky is obviously not cool with) since she and Fi broke up when Fiona graduated. She says she likes "people". I was also realizing, I find her total friggin weirdness endearing, but prolly would be really annoyed by it if she were like less attractive. But I guess that's the case with all magic pixie dream girls.
You know, I keep forgetting about the whole Cameron killing himself thing- like Tristan tries to talk Maya up to the new folks all, "Ooh, she had two boys fighting over her last year". And Maya tells him to shut it, blowing off Miles when he asked what happened with that. At first I thought it was because she was embarrassed and thought it was tacky of Tristan to do that, but then I remembered that she prolly did not want to answer Miles because the answer would be, "Oh, one of them killed themselves".
Anyways, I still keep hearing the rumors Adam is gonna die, possibly from a hate crime. I'm like skeptical they'd kill that character off like that, but from what I hear, that's looking more and more like its gonna happen. Particularly since one of the last eps of the summer has a plot of "Becky has a crisis of faith when tragedy strikes". If that is the case, I'm curious to see where they go. Like, will they have her stop being Jesus girl and rebel? Isn't that what they just did with Maya when Cameron killed himself? Which is all the more reason I'm annoyed about this Adam thing, because they just did a death, what's the point of another one? And is that how they really want to write their trans character off? Getting killed by someone for being trans?! That's just too much. I know the show tackles like every issue, but I don't want to see that character go like that, it seems more like a cheap ploy than a helpful message.
