Glee- A very special episode having to do with school shootings. Let me say, I groaned when I heard they were going to do such a thing, and I had hoped it was a false rumor. Now, I didn't groan because I thought they would mess it up, more that it was kinda too dark for the show. It would be weird and awkward. And it was- I mean, the scenes were incredibly well acted, but it just didn't seem like Glee. I don't watch it for scary drama, I watch it for fun musical numbers!

The other reason is I was dreading all the people who would complain on my social media feeds. Its like people are so g-d negative, already ready to jump on the ep as being "offensive" and that the show would screw up the subject matter before they even saw it. I'm amused some people were comparing it to OTH's shooting episode, all, "Now that was how you do a school shooting episode!" and its like, is there a right way to do a school shooting episode? And I suppose that episode did handle things fine, but are they forgetting how crazy the end of that episode was. The kid kills himself, then friggin Dan steals the gun and kills Keith because he thought he was the one who tried to kill him at the car dealership! And for the longest while people thought Mouth's friend murdered Keith! So its like, they don't think it was totally awkward to have a serious, dramatic episode, and then add some insane soap opera twist at the end?

Anyways, it turns out Becky took the gun to school out of "fear"? Which seems like a cop out, to have a character bring a gun to school because of general anxiety (out of the blue, too) about the world rather than being angry/scared of someone specific. And secondly, they had to know they were opening up a can of worms by having the mentally disable girl do this. Would they not realize people would be all, "Oh, so you're saying retarded people might bring guns to school because they're retarded?" I mean, on the one hand, why should mentally disabled kids be exempt from making the same mistakes non-mentally disabled kids make, but people are just gonna focus on the fact that they're mentally disabled and that the show is judging them.

I mean, I can see why they didn't want it to be one of the Glee kids, because that would be a little too much drama to deal with. It would have long lasting consequences, unless they just forgot what that person did the very next episode. Which doesn't leave too many other characters left to use. I mean, you have Becky, and you have homeless Brett, and a few random football players, but otherwise, they don't actually have any other semi-regular student speaking roles. Unless they went with having some random do it, but then people would be all, "Who the hell is this random?"

Anyways, what happens is she drops the gun in Sue's office and it goes off, and in the end Sue lies and said it was her, that she had a gun in a safe in her office, and it went off accidentally. So she's fired (weird, are they having Sue leave the show this way)

In the B-plot, Ryder figures out he was catfished. Whoever this Katie is, for some reason she uses fake pics of someone who actually goes to Mckinley, instead of the millions of random pics you can find on the internet! So he like sees this Katie in the hall (seriously, the actress that plays her is totes cute, she looks like a young Elizabeth Banks) and serenades her with Elton John's "Your Song":

So of course, the girl is like totally giddy that the star football player is serenading her and asking her out, but then when he talks about their texts and chats and stuff, she's confused. So she tells him someone must have tricked him using her pics (but to call her anyways)

At first he thinks Marley or Jake are effin' with him, so he's pissed. But they have nothing to do with it. And then when he calls the number during the shooting, Kitty's phone goes off, but she insists its not her. Some people think its Unique, but I hope its not, because that means the first time we meet "Katie", he was venting to Unique about Unique. Which would seem like a typical plot in a teen drama, but then why the hell would you drag it out for a bunch of episodes? Especially since Ryder and Unique have had zero interaction since that episode?

And he never does find out who "Katie" is, because the person blows off their meeting. Heh, if he really wanted to figure out who "Katie" is, he should ask out that Marissa chick. I would think that would infuriate real Katie so much that she'd have to reveal herself. But then, I guess he actually wants to date Katie, and that would prolly kill those chances. But hey, Marissa seems like a nice, sweet girl, and totally cute, so he could do worse!
