Jan. 5th, 2013 12:32 amAs I said, I finished my "perfect" playthrough of ME this afternoon. I did everything except for the Schells mission- I'm annoyed its stays in your journal. The Opold smuggling one, if you don't choose to help him (and why would I, smuggling is illegal! Plus, I respect Matsuo, I told her upfront when I killed her crooked officers in self defense- I wouldn't have killed them if they didn't attack me first, and I'm not going go behind her back and bring in illegal contraband!), it doesn't show up in the journal, why should the Schells one? Because while I'm not going to help him cheat Doran, I'm also not going to lie to him and say I'll do it and then give his device to Doran, that's a total dick move. Maybe I'm a little too nice.
I did make sure every NPC that could survive did. Well, except for Fist. But that's only because I feel obligated to take Wrex along when we're taking him down. I mean, it just seems weird to be all, "Oh, you're looking for Fist? Hey, we should team up!" and then not actually take him along. But yeah, I convinced Helena Blake to disband her organization, talked Jeong down, talked Toombs down, saved all the Zhu's Hope colonists, saved Katie Bowman and let Balak escape. So I do kinda feel bad that I let everyone live but Fist, even if he is an a-hole criminal.
Anyways, started on ME2 after dinner. I'm a little surprised they drop "shit" so many times so far. I mean, I get its for mature audiences, and obviously I'm know stranger to cursing, but its still disconcerting. The combat does feel different. Like I said, I no longer have immunity, so I have to be paying attention to cover. I do like the Adrenaline Rush ability, I can pop out of cover and things turn all matrix bullet-time, allowing me to quickly line up shots. The fact that you can do head shots is bad for me though, because I've always had the habit of aiming for enemies' heads instead of center of mass. In the previous game, since it didn't matter, I didn't have to be as selective with where I shot them. I'm also a little freaked out about having ammo (well, thermal clips) now instead of the ME overheating system. It has me worried that I might run out of ammo. So I might end up saving often and reloading if I'm too inefficient with my shots.
The new Normandy is nice, bigger and better than the first one. Now that I've finally met Jacob, he's okay. Still very boring seeming, but he seems like a nice enough guy. Oh weird, the cook, Gardener, who kinda sounds like Bill Murray's brother, is voice by the same guy who voices Udina. Its weird because they couldn't sound more opposite. Oh, and the VA is also Flint in the old GIJoe cartoon!? Speaking of voices, I'm amused the engineers have thick accents, with Donnelly being all Scottish or Irish or whatever, and Gabby sounding all Minnesotan. But I guess that makes them memorable.
As for the romantic interests, Kelly sure is flirty, and you know I like the short haired girls. But seriously, Miranda has the sexy Aussie accent, and that ass! Its totally ridic! I'd like to stay loyal to Ashley but these other girls are making it hard! (That's what she said, ha!)
I do like you have an armory with all sorts of weapons you can collect, but it doesn't actually give you their stats! How am I supposed to know which weapon is better than the other? I also like you can change outfits, because you know how I like playing dress up in these games. I'm not sure which is the best armor for my purposes though. I mean, I do know which ones aren't good for me, obviously the ones that give bonuses to tech and biotics are useless to me. The Terminus and Cerberus armors look cool, but they're all one package, I can't mix and match like the standard armor. I've been sticking with the Kestrel pieces so far, not sure if I'm better of mixing stuff around. I do know the Kestrel helmet does let me do more damage with head shots.
But you can also change your "non-combat" attire. I know
sparkyboy chose the off duty spacer outfit, with the vest and stuff. But that looks way too informal for me. The officer and science outfits look lame, so I'm sticking with the default crew outfit, though I'm not keen on the color scheme. But its the look that I find most preferable.
