Jan. 4th, 2013 07:53 pmSo, got my front tires replaced today since the right front one had a nail in it that couldn't be patched. Well, the treads were wearing thin too, as evidenced by my tires spinning out when it rains and I'm accelerating from a dead stop. But, since they didn't have the right tires in stock, I had to wait around for 4 hours. But, its not like I had anything better to do. Well, work, but I didn't have any projects pending, as I had gotten everything on my plate done Thursday. So, had brunch at the Waffle House across the street, and just listened to my ipod.
As I was listening to the Wicked soundtrack, I was thinking, of all the musicals they've made into movies, why the hell haven't they done Wicked yet. So I tweeted that, and
isabel79 replied "Aren't they?" and doing a google, I guess they are. It better be good!
Speaking of movie adaptations, I keep hearing about them doing a movie version of Mass Effect. I'm a little skeptical about that. Hollywood ruins most video games. Plus, all the epic video games nowadays are interactive movies, so it seems a bit redundant to make a movie version of them.
ME blather:
So, I just finished ME, and am ready to import my character into ME2. For my final playthrough, I took Ashley and Garrus. Its amusing that when you get the option to save the council, or let them die, Garrus, the friggin alien, is the one saying, "Why would you sacrifice human lives to save those council a-holes?" and its ASHLEY of all people defending them! Its kinda funny who plays "good cop" and "bad cop" in each squad pair.
But one thing I keep forgetting to mention about the ending. When the council is all, "You save us from the Reapers" and you're all, "things aren't finished yet!" I can't help but think the council is all, "Oh great, this guy, still going on about this!" I mean, sure the last time they didn't believe you, the place got invaded and thousands of people died, but I would think even with that, they'd still think you're effin' nuts to start babbling about more showing up. I mean, I think part of it is, they just got out of this epic battle, they wouldn't want to believe something even worse is coming!
Anyways, I think I can actually change my class in the second one. I'm debating it. On the one hand, I love being able to use all the weapons. On the other, I think ME spoiled me with Immunity. You're practically invincible if you're a soldier, particularly on the normal difficulty. And it charges up so fast, as soon as enemies show up, I turn on immunity, wade into the thick of it and start killing shit left and right, and when it runs out, I just re-activate it since its recharge time is shorter than its duration. I don't even need to bother with cover! So I might be in a world of hurt in this next one. I mean, the soldier is still the "toughest" class, but tough isn't invincible.
I dunno, I'm not really interested in an engineer or adept. I mean, if something needs to get shot, I'll do it myself thank you, not rely on some drone or my squad members. And biotics are cool, but to paraphrase Han Solo, nothing beats a good blaster at your side. As I've said before, I don't mind ordering my squad to throw enemies around telekinetically, but I myself don't want that to be my only trick.
sparkyboy's choice is the sentinel since they can do everything, but I'd rather be good at one thing, that's what the rest of the squad is for.
The infiltrator seems cool because of the cloak and sniper rifle. And I love the vanguard's biotic charge and they get to use a shotgun in additional to their biotics. Though the latter is very risky since you're charging into the thick of things. And as good as stealth and sniping is, there are just situations where you can't sneak around and snipe. I'd rather play the soldier, and get to use the assault rifle as my work horse and occasionally get to switch to the shotgun for up close and personal work, or the sniper rifle to pick off people from a distance when the situation presents itself. Eh, I think its obvious I'm gonna stick with the soldier. But we'll see how things go in ME2, maybe I'll change my mind.
