Aug. 28th, 2012 08:09 pmSo last night's Major Crimes with Erin Cummings reminded me of the existence of that Bitch Slap movie, which I had to watch today as its going to be off of netflix on 9/2. Anyways, its kinda ridiculously gratuitous movie. I mean, they have a water fight for no reason! Well, other than to show the girls all wet and cleavage-y. I wish the Asian chick was hotter, but they did manage to hit all the right notes on what makes the Asian school girl archetype hot. Particularly the way she talked- that kinda faux innocent Japanese, then occasionally switching to that deep homicidal tone.
In any case, its definitely a homage to those old Russ Meyer films (of which Vixen! is still my favorite, which if you've seen the movie, you know the reasons why) though its a little too kitchy at times. Like its trying a little too hard to be like those old movies. It did have a somewhat surprising twist ending.
TV commentary:
Pretty Little Liars- Just have the telly on last week's ep before the summer finale in 15 minutes. Hey, Spencer does indeed have nice legs. I'm still not sure who the hottest Liar is, but Spence definitely looks the best in a bikini. Though Emily does look the hottest in short skimpy cocktail dresses.
Anyways, Spencer is too convinced Paige is A that she can't be, but maybe that's the twist. I hope she isn't though, because it would suck if she ended up being a bad guy. Because she's a compelling character. I mean, it took me a little bit to make the connection between why Ali called her pigskin (the weird bumps on her thighs) to Paige's confession to Em at the end of the ep about the intimations towards self-hurting because of her sexual confusion, that the bumps were scars from her cutting herself. The whole thing with blackmailing Paige over that stuff, to me is the worst of everything Ali's ever done. And that includes possibly killing some girl at a frat party! I guess everyone has something they think is "over the line" for a fictional character to do, and for me its picking on someone because of their sexuality. Blackmail in particular, that is just a horrible thing to do to blackmail someone over.
Re-watching the ep, I don't think Paige's distrust of the other Liars isn't because she's A, its because of the way Ali treated her. I mean, she trusts Em, but to her, the rest of the girls were Ali's lemmings. She probably thinks they're talking about her behind her back and trying to sabotage her relationship. Ha, its kinda funny, because Spencer and Paige care about Em a lot, and I think they both think they're protecting her.
Owel, the ep is about to start, and they're doing the "two days earlier" thing. So Hanna's really upset over some body. Is it Caleb? Mona? And why is Emily acting totally spacy. Guess I'll find out!
