TV commentary:

Glee- So they posted the really depressing performances from last night's Glee on their official youtube channel. Geez, you think they'd at least posted Kurt's rendition of "The Boy Next Door", because at least that one is uplifting. Its like, out of context, I love these renditions of the songs. But the performances on the show are just so friggin heavy!

Cell Block Tango:

It starts out sexy and fun. But then the end is intercut with scenes of Bieste being abused by Cooter. It makes you feel totally bad for enjoying the beginning!

Shake It Out:

Its like, here's a beautiful acoustic version of this FatM song. And its supposed to be all uplifting, the girls singing to Bieste about escaping her abusive husband and you should be feeling all happy. But she didn't leave her husband. Talk about a friggin downer! It evokes happy emotions in you, and then they pull the rug out from under you all, "just kidding, she didn't escape her problems, she's still in the thick of it!"

Cry:

Hey, you know what would be awesome? Seeing Rachel, the girl who was teased and bullied relentlessly in the beginning, but it was okay because she had talent and was going to leave podunk to be a huge star, absolutely devastated about her dreams being crushed and crying for two minutes straight. And if that wasn't depressing enough, let's have Puck, who was feeling good about his final and thinking he passed and relieved he's not going to be a deadbeat like his father actually be a failure.

Its like they could have just done any one of those things this ep, not all of it. How am I supposed to enjoy the performances when they're linked to such depressing shit?! At least "Cry" is obviously supposed to be a sad song, its about friggin crying. But "Cell Block Tango" and "Shake It Out" especially shouldn't be such downers.
