Hmm, so they're remaking the Thundercats cartoon? Eh, they've just about remade everything else, so why not?

Random stuff from the web:

Is it me, or does the background pic in original Egg's twitter look kinda jailbait-y?

The kinda cute meekakitty's music video for Star Trek Girl:

Hey, new posters and banners for Sucker Punch. You know, I don't even care about the plot of the movie. It could just be two hours of hot girls in sexy outfits taking on orcs and dragons and nazis in zeppelins and giant robot samurai or whatever and the plot make no sense whatsoever, but I'd still prolly enjoy it, because I'm easy like that. Though I'm still confused why Vanessa Hudgen's character, a brunette, is nicknamed Blondie. I mean its not like her hair is so dark that it's an ironic nickname.

Also, I did not know Super Mario Brothers Crossover had been updated a while ago to include Blaster Master. But more importantly, that my save file for the old version wouldn't work in the new version. Luckily, I figured out how the new save file worked so I could hack things if I had to. But I still played and beat the game normally. Its just reassuring that I could cheat if I need to. I mean, when playing games, obviously, I like a challenge, but I also like to be able to go "frak it!" and just stack the deck in my favor if need be. There's less pressure, so I feel more confident and thus do better.

Also, I don't consider playing an early level over and over again for hours on end to power my character up to uber levels (like I do in RPGS and the DW/SW series and the like) before I take on the rest of the game to be cheating. As they say, bleed during training so you don't end up bleeding during the real thing. Plus, I want to get access to everything my characters can do as soon as possible, so I can have more variety in how I dispatch my enemies for longer, not just in the late levels.

TV commentary:

Chuck- Eh, Sarah is way better as a blond. Though one of her outfits, with the black hair like that, was that an intentional Mass Effect 2 reference? Because it was the spitting image of how she looks in the game. Oh, and I was skeptical about the whole thing with Casey's daughter in the autographed Back to the Future T-Shirt thing. If it was really such an important collector's item, what was it doing around for Alex just to throw on? Wouldn't it be framed or something?

Although [livejournal.com profile] clevemire and I were just discussing her possible slobbery. He's thinking wouldn't they be all "WTF?! What kinda girl just nonchalantly drops pizza sauce and orange juice all over the place (one that is not hers) and not care?" But I say, the show was kinda focusing on the pizza sauce and juice spilling because Morgan and Chuck were all freaked out about her possible messing up the shirt, and otherwise, its a hot chick wearing only a T-shirt, they'd be distracted. I think I would be, and I'm anal about that sort of thing, because I'd worry that that sort of thing attracts bugs. So between being mesmerized by a scantily clad hottie and also worrying she might accidentally ruin a collector's item, I think I would not actually notice the spills at the time. I mean, I would notice it later and be all, "What the hell is this?" and then quickly clean it up and then start freaking out about a bug invasion.

So I was chatting with [livejournal.com profile] zarathrustra94 earlier about the decline of arcades, and why would you go to an arcade when you can play against other people over the net. But then I realized, I've always liked the feel of the arcade. Sure, you can play fighting games online now against people all over the world. But I don't think its the same as playing some stranger in the arcade.

As I've said, I play fighting games to show off more than anything else. Which is prolly why I preferred pro wrestling to actual fighting. I mean, in something like UFC, occasionally you'll see something totally bad-ass, but since wrestling is scripted and choreographed beforehand, you're guaranteed to be entertained. But I digress. Playing online, the person you're playing sees what you can do, but I like a bigger audience, to get feedback from a crowd. I mean, Mortal Kombat, ending with a fatality isn't just for rubbing it in to the loser, its to entertain the crowd, much like the gladiator games of yore.

Playing in the arcade, its all the more satisfying to pull of some cool combo or hard to execute move, when you hear the cheers of other people watching all impressed with your skillz. And I also like watching the people about to play, as they take the current fight in, thinking about how they'll tackle the winner when its their turn to challenge them. It makes the competition feel all the more real when you see how the match means to other people.

Actually, I think I tend to play better when I have people watching. You'd think the opposite of me, given how much of a worry wart I can be, like wouldn't the existence of a crowd watching me freak me out even more? But if its just myself, I tend to be overly critical of my play. I'm a perfectionist, and end up setting lofty goals for myself (like playing a gun game left handed for more of a challenge) and get frustrated when I don't reach them, which in turn makes me play worse. But feeling I'm impressing an audience who don't have as high expectations as I have for myself, I feed off that, working harder to give them a "good show" as it were. Take Silent Scope 2 for example. I've done more head-shot auto kills of bosses within a few seconds of the start of the fight in front of a crowd than with no one watching me. If no one's watching, I start getting nervous beforehand, like what if I don't get off that perfect shot and miss and ruin my streak. But with an audience, I'm too busy performing for the crowd to over think things.

It sounds like they have channels in some of these online games that allow you to watch people competing against each other, which conversely means you can have an audience watching you from their computer screens, but that's just not the same as having someone physically there.

A totally superficial post! So, Vanessa Hudgens is the new Candies girl? Like how hot is she in that photo shoot? (And I already know what some of you are going to say, "what is she, like 12?" That comment is as played out as "that chick needs a samich")

I was totally unaware of Avril Lavigne's new video until [livejournal.com profile] clevemire told me about it:

Hey, it starts off pretty nice!

So apparently Autumn Reeser has a topless scene in some upcoming movie (link NSFW)? Too bad she has a weird tattoo on her chest for the movie. I guess its of some weird particle thingie? I wasn't actually paying attention to all that nerdy science stuff she was spouting as she did Antonio Banderas, for obvious reasons. (Something about quarks and neutrons or something?) It does weird me out that she does such a racy scene, I thought she was above that sort of thing. Though I guess she had a similar scene in the uncut version of Smokin' Aces 2.
