So, two new characters have been unlocked for Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition. Wait, there are still arcades?! So all those people who bought the home edition of SSFIV, will they be able to get this new content as DLC, or will they have to buy a whole new game like they did when they wanted to upgrade from SFIV to SSFIV? I mean, SSFIV was apparently deemed too large to be DLC, but at least SSFIV was cheaper than the normal price for a game. Though it seems the additions in SSFIV: AE compared to normal SSFIV are not as big as between SFIV and SSFIV. So hopefully it will be DLC.

But I digress. Anyways, SSFIV: AE had already added Yun and Yang from SFIII, but it also includes two time released characters- Evil Ryu and Oni Akuma. And this time, Evil Ryu isn't just a color palette swap of Ryu. He actually looks more demonic, with the ripped gi and the scar on his chest. The Oni version of Akuma is a little bigger and more bestial. (Alas, I'd link to some vids, but apparently Capcom had everyone take them down. Boo!) They both definitely look bad-ass. Both of them have the Shun Goku Satsu as their Supers (I've always loved this move, not just for the stylish factor, but because it was the easiest super combo I've been able to pull off in the SF series). Evil Ryu's first ultra is just the same as his normal original hadoken ultra, which is kinda boring. Oni Akuma also has a fireball ultra, but the animation for his is way more bad-ass looking.

I like both of their second ultras better. Evil Ryu's is the Akuma dragon punch one, i.e, a chain of three dragon punches (with purple flame-y fist) of increasing power and height, but at the peak of the third, he opens his fist, and comes back down, grabbing the opponents head and slamming it back down to the ground while simultaneously hitting him with a point blank blast. Oni Akuma's is also a dragon punch variation, where he uppercuts the opponent in the air, and as they fly up, he jumps after them (and he turns all black except for his eyes, which are blood red which seem to leak a red stream behind him as he flies up through the air, definitely cool and dark looking) slamming his fist right into their spine and some kanji appearing at the moment of the hit.

I can't see why anyone would choose the fireball ultras over these. I don't know if its that the fireball ones are more practical? But who cares? Fighting games aren't just about winning, its about looking cool while doing it. Of course, that's always been my problem. I'm too busy trying to showcase what a character can do rather than sticking with what will win me the match. (Well, against human opponents)

So [livejournal.com profile] clevemire tells me he used to play the Tie Fighter games with a mouse. He says that's the best way to play it, but I'm slightly offended! How do you play a game where you're flying something and not use a stick?! Planes aren't flown with mice! I think that ruins the whole feel!

Oh, and why was there a new Hawaii Five-O on last night (and why did the guide list it as being a repeat?): spoiler cut )

House- Ah'm skeptical! spoiler cut )

Gossip Girl- Weird, its that one guy from Spin City, as a former associate of Chuck's dad. I don't think they've had a minority character since they graduated HS and Isabel and Nelly Yuki were no longer around. Unless you count Vanessa. I mean, her mom is Zoe from Firefly. Or wait, is Penelope supposed to be some sort of latina? spoiler cut )

Pretty Little Liars- Hey, its Alona Tal! Its always nice to see her show up in this. spoiler cut )
