Finally got a chance to check out WoD: Inferno yesterday. Lots of neat stuff there. And from what I've seen, the new rules are somewhat simple and easy to integrate.

Anyways, [livejournal.com profile] turdburgler asked me to post a list of all the shows I watch with a one sentence description, so here it is, by day: Really long, so I'm putting it under a cut )

I know, could I watch any more TV shows? I'm gonna pull a Sydney Pollack and say the three hour long drama shows from that list you SHOULD be watching are Lost, Battlestar Galactica, and Friday Night Lights. I think the Office, 30 Rock, and HIMYM (Its the new Friends!) are the funniest sitcoms on right now. Scrubs is really good too, and I think it has more heart than a lot of these hour long medical dramas.

And if I had to recommend anything else, I'd actually go with Chuck, Leverage, and Burn Notice. I mean, they're all fun action/comedies, with a little bit of drama thrown in every so often. So its a little bit of something for everyone, and I don't think you can go wrong with that.

I have started watching Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Its a neat little cartoon where every week Batman partners up with a different superhero. Its kinda a crash course in DC comics history as well, showcasing a lot of the smaller heroes and villains. Like this past ep, which focused on the Green Lantern corps. I was aware of Mogo, the Green Lantern who was a living planet. But I didn't know about G'nort (who for some reason sounds talks like Woody Allen in this show).

Speaking of the Green Lantern, since I'm nowhere near as familiar with DC as I am with Marvel, what's with all these other corps? Like when did Sinestro start having other people with the yellow power rings? And Star Sapphire, was it always the case she had a violet (then why is her name sapphire?) power ring, or did they retcon it since she had similar powers to Green Lantern and Sinestro and they wanted to do a color theme, with each color representing an emotion they derive their power from? So Green is force of will, Yellow (Sinestro's corps) is fear, and Violet (Star Sapphire's corps) is love? But there's also the Red Lanterns, powered by wrath, Orange Lanterns, motivated by greed, Blue Lanterns, who are all about hope, and Indigo Lanterns, who are all about compassion. There's apparently also Black Lanterns, who have power over the dead? Was I totally unaware of this this whole time? Or is whole thing something totally new to DC?

I've been seeing bits and pieces of the Dark Reign storyline in the Marvel Universe. So there's a Dark Avengers now? Spoiler cut, just in case )

Here's a nonsensical post about how my head works:

So y'all know for the longest time I was trying to figure out that song I referred to as "that Brassy Song", which I eventually found out was Chuck Mangione's "Feels So Good". And much to [livejournal.com profile] clevemire's consternation you people know I'll often just start humming "Spanish Flea" by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana for no reason at all, perhaps if I subconsciously think its too quiet or something. But there's another song that I often have stuck in my head, which I don't hum as often as Spanish Flea, but will occasionally do. But I didn't actually know what it was until less than an hour ago. This is how I figured it out.

So what was that song? "White Lines" by Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five. I believe it got stuck in my head 1st season of Everybody Hates Chris, I think that song was in one of the eps. Anyways, I was taking my afternoon nap (got to catch up on sleep some time), and had my TV on ABC Family, which of course shows repeats of Gilmore Girls at 5pm. It was the dance-athon ep where Dean dumps Rory because its obvious she's hung up on Jess. So, I wake up, and I remember there was an ep a few weeks ago, where Kirk has this crazy short film and the song is in it. Only I didn't remember this particular song was in it, only there was a song I wanted to know the identity of was in this ep. So I figured I'd comb through the TWoP recaps of the show, thinking they would mention what song it is, since it was a wacky short film and Kirk all of a sudden just starts doing a dance to it.

But, I couldn't remember what ep it was, only that it was the one where Lorelai wanted to be the one to choose the film for the annual film festival, because she was tired of watching "The Yearling" every year. I didn't actually wanted to start combing through season 2 recaps, trying to find which ep that was. But luckily, I remember Mary-Lynn Raj (frick it, I can't spell her last name) Chloe from 24 was in the short film. So did an imdb search on her name, and did a backwards check to find the eps of Gilmore Girls she has been in, looked up the appropriate TWoP recap, and they do indeed name drop the song, which was "White Lines". Again, I didn't know what song I was looking up at that point, only that it was a song I wanted to look up.

So I put in "White Lines" into imeem, played the song and once I heard it, I was all, "Oh, that song!" So now I know, and knowing is half the battle. I know, if only I spent this kind of effort on more constructive pursuits.

Weird, had dinner with the roomie at Frontera. He mentioned a bit of freakiness as he was waiting for me to get there. Apparently, some white couple walked up to the sidewalk in front of the restaurant, took out a bag of white powder and spelled out "IN ON" backwards (or perhaps NINO) on the ground and then walked off. I mean, that's like a totally strange thing to do, right?

Alas, nothing cool came out of it. There was no rip in the space time continuum, no gateway opened. No nekkid space hottie chick from the future showed up, nor any aliens, monsters, great old ones, devils, demons, or daemons from another dimension. Not that such things appearing would be "cool". I mean, that would prolly be quite dangerous if a gelugon or a balor or even worse, the Twin Blasphemies or the Waiting Dark showed up! I mean, I was stuffed with Tacos De Alambre, I prolly couldn't run very fast or far!

And is it odd to equate someone doing something very strange that one can't explain with them trying to open a dimensional gate through which something horrid and dangerous might slip through? Hey, you never know!
