At least there will be plenty implied

Baby, its cold outside! It was literally freezing out there this morning. Bah, I hate the weather this time of year. Anyways, is the classic "Baby, its Cold Outside" considered a Christmas song? I mean, they never actually mention the time of year in the song, just that its cold. I could be late January. Or they could be in Alaska or Canada or something. But that song only really plays during the Christmas season.

Anyways, the roomie's ps3 came in yesterday. No ps3 games yet, but as I said, he wanted to get one of the first gen ones that had the ps2 hardware in it for the backwards compatibility. After all, he has a bunch of ps2 games, despite never having owned a ps2. I mean, the ps2 is mine, and he's always roomed with someone who had a ps2 (w00ter, Neb Pinhead), so he's never had occasion to get one for himself.

Owel, there's still not too many games out for it that seem all that appealing. Stranglehold, I guess, the demo on the 360 was pretty fun. Heavenly Sword "looks" cool, but I hear its way too short and while it looks like God of War, but with a hot chick, it doesn't really have substance. Actually, I guess there's Virtua Fighter 5, Ninja Gaiden Black and you can download Tekken 5 DR Online. There are games coming out that might be cool- Metal Gear Solid 4, Grand Theft Auto 4, Devil May Cry 4, Soul Calibur 4 (why is everything up to 4?), Resident Evil 5 (I guess that's not a 4), Mercs 2 (not a 4 either), Dynasty Warriors 6 (also not a 4, so I guess not everything is up to 4), the newest Gran Turismo, Army of Two, Assassin's Creed, and Kane and Lynch: Dead Men.

Saw some more gameplay videos of Kane and Lynch. It still looks awesome, like something out of a Michael Mann movie. I still think if you combine this game with the free roaming world of the GTA series, and mebbe some of the environmental destructibility and neat gun fu tricks of Stranglehold (though that may be a little too much), it would be the ultimate stylized violence crime romanticization game.

For some reason, I thought that line from last night's South Park was hysterical. "Carry On Wayward Son" kicks ass, so the ep already gets a plus in my book. Speaking of Guitar Hero, or rather, Rock Band, poodleface mentioned trying out the demo Best Buy has set up for it. I too noticed it at the local Best Buy yesterday.

I myself didn't try it out. Actually, I don't think they had a mic anyways. I'm a total gimp, so I could never play any of the instruments. But the singing part I can do. Although is that considered the "least rocking" part of Rock Band? Not sure what songs the demo had at the Best Buy, but if they did have the mic set up, I would feel quite weird singing in the middle of Best Buy. Well, if I was by myself. If someone were trying the instruments, I wouldn't feel so embarrassed.

Though looking at the main set list, the only songs I think I could actually do off the bat are "(Don't Fear) the Reaper", "Foreplay/Long Time", and "Wanted Dead or Alive". "Sabotage" mebbe, but I'd feel goofy doing it for some reason. I would also feel goofy doing Faith No More's "Epic". There's something weird about singing in that rap kinda way. It would be hilarious to try though!

Anyways, I think "Foreplay/Long Time" would be cool for the people playing the instruments, but there's not actually too much singing in it. Oh wait, didn't they say you could use the mic in some way for the cowbell parts in Reaper? But I digress. I think I could do some of the other songs with practice, though I don't think I could ever do Garbage's "I think I'm Paranoid". I've done songs done by women before, but again, I'd just feel weird!

I guess the thing that sucks is that there are a lot of cool songs I'd like to do featured in the various Guitar Heroes, but I'm guessing they didn't want an overlap of tracks. And another thing about the game, it seems like you don't actually have to be familiar with the song to play the instruments, since its a push the right button at the right time sort of thng. But you have to know the song to sing it! So I would think that would make the singer the weak link every time, if the people on the instruments aren't gimps.

EDIT: going to grab lunch, I saw Tech Rec has a halo 3 tournament coming up, and that had me thinking. A "Battle of the Rock Bands" would make for an interesting contest I think. Having 4 person groups competing against each other in Rock Band. Of course, the problem would be getting enough 4 person groups. Like I'm sure there are people on this f-list who would play Rock Band, but no one I see regularly!

If there were such a contest, I'd certainly be willing to go in with some people. I would have to be the handsome front man of course. ojv('Man, its obvious!')
