Ugh, its getting cold, which means cold mornings and not wanting to get up from the warmth of one's bed when the alarm goes off. But you have to, because you need to get into work. Owel, since I didn't want to get up, and the news on the radio was talking about how the mayor is declaring the drought a "disaster", I slept for ten more minutes and skipped the daily morning shower. I figured, that would be my part to help conserve water for the day.

Last night, decided to go to Eats for dinner. ahnuldv('Big mistake!') Traffic was a frickin' mess with accidents and construction and lights out. It took 45 minutes to get from frickin' CR to Eats, when it should have only taken a third of that time. But it was still good eating, had my usual egg fettucine with turkey meat sauce and a side of eye-talian sausage. And once again, I failed to capitalize on my "trust me I'm a doctor" t-shirt when I had not one but two chicas ask me about it. Alas, I'm not clever enough to come up with a witty fake doctor story (or at the very least, anecdote), so I usually go with "not really" and an embarassed grin.

Did get back in time to watch Smallville, the Office, and Its Always Sunny in Philidelphia. The former two were both subpar last night. Thursday night TV commentary:

Smallville )

I can't think of anything I wanted to comment about the Office, so no cut for it.

So I was looking at the latest casting news for the upcoming Jaybrams' Star Trek movie on Ain't it Cool. A few weeks ago, they made it sound like Zoe Saldana was in final negotiations as Uhura, but I never believe entertainment sites when they say "final negotiations". That doesn't mean jack! Though, people talk as if she is indeed Uhura now, so has the rumor been confirmed?

Anyways, more recently, they claim Simon Pegg is confirmed as Scotty and Harold of Harold and Kumar is confirmed as Sulu. And the film geeks seem to be jizzing themselves over such news. Really? I mean, I've liked the stuff both Simon Pegg and John Cho have done, but they don't really scream Scotty and Sulu to me. Its like here's a well liked UK actor (who's not Scottish!) and a well liked Asian actor (who's Korean, not Japanese!), let's make them Scotty and Sulu. Now I'm not saying they wouldn't do a good job, I just don't see were all the "best thing evar" geeking out is coming from.

In any case, I do at least think Zachary Quinto as Spock could work. I mean, Sylar is detached, but in a creepy way. But I can see him being able to do non-creepy detached.

Owel, at Barnes and Noble yesterday, saw there was a new Drizzt book by RAS out. I can't not read such books, so I picked it up. Although given the book starts out with him thrashing some Forgotten Realms equivalent of the KKK known as the Triple-C who "suffer no orc to live", it doesn't look promising.

Hmm, this guy in the hall looks eerily like Jim Gaffigan, but with the beard Brian Posehn currently has on the Sarah Silverman show.

I've brought this up before, but since its official and in production now, I don't like what the did with the new Sti. The new Evo looks better, though I don't like its new look that much either.

Reading more of this latest RAS book, there were a couple of plot points I had totally forgotten about. Also, given these come out yearly, and the last three books were focused on Artemis and Jaraxle, I didn't realize its been more than three years since the end of that last story arc. Which doesn't seem right, but I guess it is. Jeez, time flies!
