Hey, I'm back here in the NYC! Found out more details about my trip to the Philippines. I leave Sat night, I thought I was gonna be leaving early Saturday morning, so I have a whole day to loaf around. I can actually get some sleep! Also, turns out my brother isn't going. And to answer the questions everyone had about what I'm doing once I'm there, I asked the parentals and they to are vague. They're all, we're just visiting to see the family, not sight-see. I think they're more interested in introducing me to people than they are showing me their birth country. And why not, it would be quite the honor to meet me!

Owel, Rosie gave me a framed picture of me and her son/my godson. I was surprised he was egg-cited to see me. He must think I am so great. Kitty also sent a letter from Parris Island. Marine training is hell (but of course) and she's feeling kinda down, so those of you who know her should write and send her letters of encouragement!

here's the addy )

I'll try to get a letter out to her before I leave tomorrow. I think its kinda neat she went the military route, I know half the people here in NY thought I would. But the only two things I ever wanted to do if I was in the military was fly fighter jets or be a sniper, and alas, I don't have the eyes for either. I guess Explosive Ordnance Disposal also sounded exciting, but Organic Chemistry lab showed I sometimes get these uncontrollable, unintentional shakes in my hands. As my TA said, "I hope you never try to be a surgeon!" Anyways, all those occupational tests they made you take in HS said my ideal job was soldier so it wouldn'tve been an unsound choice. I guess I did try for that CIA prgram, and if that had actually worked out, I woulda had something to worry about in college and I wouldn't have had my head up my ass freshman year. Of course, my CIA dream job is totally in the other direction. As I've said before, none of this fancy James Bond stuff, I'd pick sitting in some room doing analysis. Its like, learning with an actual purpose!

Oh, I was looking at the latest G.I.Joe releases, and one of them is a Cobra operative named Ghost Bear, son of Kwinn the Eskimo. Intersting, since Kwinn was only in the comic, he wasn't even in the original toy line or the TV show. People who read the comic would get the reference, but the majority of people wouldn't! And Stargate SG-1 was very tricksy tonight! The previews made you think one person was gonna die, but it was someone else who did.

Owel, I guess I better get to sleep, have that 20+ hour flight coming up. The roomie lent me his GBA, and I still have the Wish series that [livejournal.com profile] turdburgler lent me to keep me amused at the airport and on the plane ride. Too bad my portable CD player doesn't work, then I could listen to tunes.

If I don't say anything more Saturday, I'll catch y'all on the Flip-side.
