Voltron- Hmm, not the ending I expected. But yeah, this show is far from "the worst" that some people on tumblr make it out to be. Although I can see why some take issue with the development at the end. Shiro getting married to that one random dude was weird. Like revealing Shiro was gay last season, that was pretty cool. But then they didn't really do anything with it, other than a brief flashback to him having a boyfriend before killing him off.
And then they didn't do anything with it before just ending the series with Shiro's gay wedding. Like, who even is this guy? And it does kinda seem like a tone deaf way to handle the backlash at how they handled things last season. Like I hate the use of the word queerbaiting, because people overuse the word and apply it to plot developments involving LGBTQ characters they don't like, as opposed to actual queerbaiting. But this kinda seems like it. Its like, "ooh, here's a gay kiss to end the series on!" Too bad it wasn't earned because they just threw that together at the end.
Same with Allurance. They had some nice moments, but they were few and far between. Certainly not enough for Lance to become a permanent bachelor and spend the rest of his life on Altea doing cherity work in her honor.
So what happened to Allura? Turns out those Alteans were just people from Lotor's secret colony, whom Honerva convinced to join her. Her plan? Break through to a reality where she can live a normal life with Zarkon and Lotor, even though that would destroy countless other realities drilling a hole to enter it. Anyways, the coalition tries to stop her, but she makes it to her perfect reality.
Only the kid Lotor there doesn't accept her as his mom, so she decides to destroy all realities. And she succeeds, with only her and the Voltron Force (including Shiro, as in their attempt to stop Hagar, Voltron was fused with the Atlas) left in the void. But Allura still sees the little good left in her and manages to save her from her rage. Anyways, Allura says she can fix reality using the training she got with Lotor, but that would involve her sacrificing herself. And so she does, but saves the multiverse (and brings back Altea!)
So Keith unites the Galra empire (but turns down rulership when its offered). Krolia and Kolivan become the Galra reps, Zethrid and Narti (who are alive!) and Acxa become Blades of Malmora and under Keith's leadership, the Blades go around helping the needy. Shiro takes the Atlas on a diplomatic mission resolving conflicts around the universe, with Hunk and his crack cooking team (including Romelle and possibly Shay) using their culinary expertise to put these people in a good mood.
And the Gundersons use their genius to make all sorts of scientific breakthroughs and make the Earth a hub for the rest of the universe.
Anyways. its a fine ending, I'm shocked they killed off Allura. But hey, everyone else survived, so that's cool.
