TV commentary:
When talking about the cancellations and renewals last post, I had intended to talk about the potential Originals and Supernatural spin-offs but forgot in the crowd of other things. I'm mildly interested in this Originals spin-off (give us the twins!), but I'm very annoyed they didn't pick up Wayward Sisters. I get Supernatural has been going on for like a hundred years now, but whatever, this would've been different and interesting.
Timeless- Man, that's going to be annoying if this doesn't going to be renewed. Future Tomb Raider Lucy is hott!!
Anyways, Jessica really is a Rittenhouse sleeper, but she also doesn't seem to be lying about being preggers with his child, but who knows! She claims to love Wyatt, but how does that whole thing work? So apparently she's been indoctrinated into Rittenhouse from a young age, ever since they saved her brother. It seems like her life should be totally different at that point! Did she just live life as normal, become high school sweethearts with Wyatt still? Did Rittenhouse tell him who he would be, direct her into making sure they got together? And when he came back, it seemed like they were in a distant marriage.
Was she just running with that, being with a guy who was apparently ignoring her, and told that one day, he'd come up to her as if he was seeing her for the first time in years? I'm not sure things really make sense. But whatever.
Anyways, she captures Jiya, but Jiya manages to escape to the past, the Lifeboat being damaged in the process. She leaves them clues to the Lifeboat's whereabouts (I'm skeptical it managed to stay hidden under branches for so long!) but warns them not to come for her? Why? Because while they were making sure Harriet Tubman made her contribution to the Civil War Effort, Mason took her to see the former lifeboat pilot who went nuts. (which, there is a connection there, apparently Harriet Tubman randomly had visions also?!)
He tells her she can control her powers, and so being stuck in the past she has three years to figure out how to do that. And she didn't want them to come, because she foresaw Rufus dying if they tried to bring her back.
Not that they know that yet, but before they bump into her, they have an encounter with Carolyn, Emma, Jessica, and Keynes. Emma tries to kill Lucy, but Carolyn warns her, so Emma has had enough and shoots Lucy's mom. Heh, then Keynes is all, "What did you do!?" and so she kills him too! Thank goodness. He sucked. i'm amused they had rescued him from the past because he was supposed to be some sort of genius who could lead Rittenhouse, and he was just surreptitiously killed like it was nothing. But yeah, I assume they realized maybe the white dude wanting to stop women's suffrage and civil rights and the ending of slavery might not be leading them to a world they want? Like, maybe of Rittenhouse was all white dudes, which to be fair, there are a lot of them, but it seemed from one of his speeches when he first began to lead, it wasn't all white guys. So you'd think these other people would not be pleased at the direction he was taking them.
But yeah, Carolyn's last word to Lucy was lamenting that she hadn't indoctrinated Lucy sooner, that Rittenhouse should be hers! Rufus goes to Jiya who's all pissed he came, because she's seen all the scenarios, and if she tries to go home, he dies. But he refuses to leave her in the past. Eventually, the gang all gets there, and Lucy manages to convince Jiya to leave.
And hey, Rufus does manage to survive the incidents of Jiya's vision. But then he walks outside and gets shot by Emma. Needless to say, the team gets upset. Jiya is upset, because she told them so. Lucy goes after Emma, angry at everything she's now taken- her sister, her mom, Rufus. She would've killed Emma if she had another bullet. But Emma fights back, because she hates Lucy as much as Emma hates her, thinks of her as the ingrate princess who everyone fawns over when she's been the true believer all this time. She and Jessica manage to get away, and the team comes back to base, devastated.
Connor wants to go back, send another team maybe since they can't cross their own paths. But Jiya's all it will take a year to train another pilot. But so what?! Its a time machine! That doesn't matter!
Anyways, its a moot point, because a new and improved lifeboat shows up, with future-Wyatt and future-Lucy, looking all bad-ass and being all, "Let's go rescue Rufus!"
