Riverdale- This episode was freaking WILD!!!! Could there be any more things happening in this ep?! So in the first five minutes, the town goes into full riot mode after Fangs is shot, with the Serpents hunting Reggie over Fangs' shooting. The Hood goes after Cheryl, nut she quickly crawls out the window, dons a Red Riding Hood cape and uses her bow to shoot the Black Hood and chase him into the woods. Seriously, Cheryl cracks me up with her use of "whilst" and continual referral of Betty as "cousin". Anyways, she warns Betty that the Hood is on the run and to watch out for him!
Archie tries to proclaim Reggie's innocence to Jug, but the Serpents are out for blood. Veronica, having been picked up by Andre from Archie's house to be taken home, randomly bumps into the real shooter, Mrs. Klump. She quickly takes her to the station, so that problem is solved almost immediately!
That doesn't stop the Serpents from trying to burn down the school and get into a rumble with Archie, Moose, and Kevin, but Weatherbee shows up armed with a baseball bat and some people himself to break it up. Jug manages to calm down the Serpents. Meanwhile, Archie gets a call from Pop, saying Reggie's there. So Archie and the boys show up to help him, then a gang shows up outside. Which is confusing since Jug just told him that the Serpents are standing down.
Turns out, its the Ghoulies and Penny Peabody. Lucky for them, Pops shows Archie how to make a molotov cocktail from the liquor Hiram left behind from the poker game sitdown. So Archie holds them long enough for Keller, FP, and Fred to show up to chase the Ghoulies off. Kevin refers to them as "Hot Dad squad!" Kevin, that's your father you're talking about!!
Meanwhile, Betty returns home to find bloody towels by the sink, so it looks like Hal really is the Hood! Betty finds out he's in the hospital, only to find a dead doctor where her dad should be. Then she gets a call from the Hood, all come home, or your mom dies!
And so she does, and Hal shows them a creepy video of a young him being lectured by his mom. Apparently Hal's Grandpappy killed Clifford's Grandpa, not the other way around. And that family that was slaughtered back in the day knew the truth and was blackmaiing Hal's grandpa. And they got the janitor to finger that guy who got lynched. Hal says he has a darkness in him, just like his father and grandfather, and like Betty!
Sure enough, that speech Betty gave at the HS, she unfortunately used the same wording as Hal's mom. So that set him off and put him on his dark path. And he's telling them all this because he was planning to murder-suicide them. Boy did he underestimate his family! Alice just berates him, distracting him long enough for Betty to knock him out.
And so Keller arrests him (isn't he not sheriff anymore?) but while Hal was confessing to his family, a Black Hood attacks Archie and Fred (luckily Fred was still wearing a bullet proof vest when he went out with Keller to save their sons from the Ghoulies). So Arch is confused. But Hal even said he was not the one who shot up the debate, so that's prolly a fake Hood hired by Hiram.
But wait, there's still a lot more! The Ghoulies and Penny kidnap Toni, but Jug shows up to rescue her with Archer Cheryl. Small Fry also shows up at the Pembrooke, killing Andre and tries to kill Ronnie and Hermione in revenge for his father's death. But Hermione shoots him dead. And she's pissed at her husband, as Veronica found his secret "October Surprise" plan to reveal her and Archie's affair to tank his campaign (he's running on family values, whereas she's only the "law and order" candidate, so she'd survive the scandal)
She knew about it, but Veronica convinces her mom that Hiram is such a user. He's putting her in the line of fire, ruining her reputation to get what he wants.
The Ghoulies are still out for blood (how long is this night?!) and challenge the Serpents to a rumble! Jughead calls for cooler heads (again!), but unfortunately FP arrives saying Fangs died in surgery. So the Serpents call for a vote and everyone including Cheryl, but not Jug, want to fight,
So, Jughead stupidly calls Hiram, knowing he called the Ghoulies and Penny to cause trouble to help with his agenda. He trades himself to the Ghoulies to leave the rest of the town alone. They beat the hell out of him, with Penny cutting off his tattoo, and telling him they're still going to attack his friends. Which, great plan there, Jug!
And so the ep ends with FP having gotten a call from Betty, who had gotten a goodbye call from Jug. So she was rightfully worried. And so FP asks Toni and Cheryl where the Ghoulies had been hiding, and finds his son's beaten body, which he dramatically carries back to everyone.
The promos would have you believe he died, but, be real!
