The Americans- Wow, things just can't go right! Man, Elizabeth's racking up quite the body count this season! In her attempt to steal a sensor from the warehouse, she kills three guards, and doesn't even end up getting the sensor!
And then there's the hapless plan to spy on Haskard shooting the bull at a football party. Which involves bring along the sick Erica so Elizabeth can be there in her nurse guise. But then Erica just starts barfing all over the place, and that's almost as awkward as Phillip doing his weird motivational techniques for his employees at work.
I mean, Erica's breakdown is really more sad than anything, and like how awkward is that going to be for Glenn at work later? Phillip's thing was just friggin weird.
But I digress, Haskell's wife started getting sick right as he was about to start talking about the good stuff. Man, Elizabeth must be frustrated as hell right now.
And color me surprised! She wasn't as bitchy as I was expecting when Philip told her about the travel agency failing and not being able to afford Henry's tuition. Interesting- so apparently they sold Henry going to private school to their bosses by saying its to get Henry out of the way so they could do their spy work. Which makes me think, maybe Claudia and the higher ups have no idea about Henry's potential.
I mean, I'm guessing they know what kinda school Henry is going to, but now that I think about it, Philip and Elizabeth are their assets, and trusted. Like, it would be a whole ordeal to place in a whole other set of spies to watch the Jennings, so they really only know what the Jennings tell them. Even Elizabeth's team don't know Paige, i mean "Julie", is her daughter.
Well that, and maybe they don't know the value of computing and how much more useful Henry would be compared to Paige.
But I digress, things are bound to come to a head sooner or later. Oleg is getting Philip to watch Elizabeth. He says its not safe to meet in person anymore, but who knows what circumstances dictate in the future. Stan and Aderholt are assigning people to watch Oleg. Elizabeth is assigning people to watch Stan, to see if he can lead them to Gennadi. (Which, I find it kinda hilarious that Claudia was all, "The Americans are going to put him in Time magazine and shit talk us!" That's what they're worried about?!)
With Oleg, Stan, Philip, and Elizabeth circling around each other now, something bad is bound to happen soon!
And whoops, Elizabeth's been keeping Paige in the dark about a lot of the messed up things they do for their job, like she's been trying her damndest to stop Paige from using sex as a tool. And what does Paige do? Totally sleep with the intern dude in her class to get closer to him to use him!
Supernatural- Poor Rowena! So she's been going on a killing spree of corporate bad guys, which she first says is "for justice!" But the boys learned through the Reaper watching over them, Jessica, that Rowena has been also killing the Reapers that come to get these hapless souls. Oh, and Jessica's watching all the time, if you know what I mean!
But I digress, Jessica relays that Billie wants them to stop Rowena, because her shenanigans are messing with fate because she's killing people before their time. Plus, according to fate, Rowena is slated to die at Sam's hands, so only he can prolly stop her.
So the boys confront Rowena about it, and she admits ever since hearing Crowley died, its affected her greatly. She's doing all this to get an audience with Death, to get her son back. She blames herself for all the wrong choices Fergus made, leading to his demonization and eventual death. They're sorry for her, but they say there's nothing she can do. But they've come back from the dead multiple times, so she says that's bullshit, if they can be brought back, she can make a deal for her son.
Sam goes after her and I think she's more than a little hurt when Sam actually pulls the trigger on her. But, she's the most powerful witch in existence right now, so a mere gun isn't going to kill her, she just stopped the bullet in mid-air.
She captures Sam, and then threatens to kill him, as she figures killing Sam will interfere with the grand plan. So Billie finally shows up, but she can tell Rowena's not going to really kill Sam. So Rowena strikes at her at full force, but it doesn't even faze Billie. Rowena breaks down about the unfairness of it all. But Billie apologetically tells her life isn't fair, stuff like that happens all the time.
And so Rowena and the boys make up and they get her to help them on their quest to stop Michael and rescue Jack and Mary.
Meanwhile, Cas goes to Heaven to see if they can help him find Gabriel. He's disturbed to see the angel guarding the gate, Indra, drunk and not giving a shit. He's even more disturbed when he arrives in heaven and its experiencing brown outs.
Interestingly enough, Lucifer and Aneal are not there, and I guess Cas never even finds out that Lucifer was in control for a while (wonder what happened to them?). Instead, he sees Dumas, and he tells her all about the Gabriel being alive thing, Lucifer being alive thing, alt-universe Michael planning an invasion and all that. So she takes him to meet... Naomi! She's still alive and very interested to hear the Gabriel is still alive. Why? Because Heaven is in trouble.
Bascially, the angels are living batteries for it, its powered by them. And all the shit of the past several years has severely depleted their numbers. There's only a dozen or so of them left. And once they go, Heaven falls apart, and billions and billions of souls fall back to Earth, becoming ghosts, which isn't good for anybody.
And so Naomi tasks Cas with finding Gabriel and bringing him back up there, as an archangel will be powerful enough to keep Heaven stable. She says it can't be just any archangel, and seems to allude to the whole Lucifer situation, but not elaborating. So yeah, Cas doesn't even know about any of that!
In any case, it will be interesting to see how things play out. Some are theorizing Cas will have to make the choice of getting Gabriel to stabilize heaven, or helping rescue Jack and Mary. Which I get he'd do anything to help the boys, but Heaven collapsing sounds really bad!
