Walking Dead- Finally! The war is over! So, Negan actually sacrifices some guys (people who came up with Simon, so he doesn't care) to lend credence to the map, even leaving another map with those hapless fools saying where exactly Negan will be.
So Rick and most of the recognizable cast members save for Tara go there, and run into a huge Savior ambush! Negan at least tells them Dwight didn't betray them, he was tricked. And tells them Eugene wanted to see the end for himself. And Negan was also going to execute Father Gabriel himself along with them. So they all take aim, ready to cut down the good guys, when we find out why Eugene had to be there- to see his handiwork for himself and make sure things went right. He had sabotaged all the bullets, so they blow up in the Savior's faces.
The gang makes short work of them soon after, at one point Laura is all, "We surrender, its over!" Meanwhile, Rick and Negan fight it out. And Rick totally tries to make peace with Negan, tells him to give him 10 seconds to tell him the world Carl wanted for them! But its a distraction so Rick could cut Negan's throat.
Only, he's finally taken Carl's words about having to be something after. And so Maggie watches in horror as Rick tells Siddiq to save Negan. Despite Maggie's protests, Michonne tells her this is how its supposed to be.
Oh, back at Hilltop, the Saviors attack while the gang was walking into that ambush, so Tara leads the people out to a secret rendezvous. She tells them to go while she holds the Saviors off. But Alden won't let her do it alone. Since its clear he and some other ex-Saviors he calls over will stay and help regardless, she gives them guns. Turns out its all moot, as Aaron and Oceanside show up and make quick work of the attackers.
So the Saviors are beaten with finality. Eugene tells Rosita her words before he puked on her were what made him decide to betray Negan and stick with the gang. She still punches him for puking on her though. Daryl takes Dwight out into the woods... to let him go and tell him never to go back. And find Sherry. And Dwight goes home, finds a note from her saying to go where they went for their honeymoon, so maybe he gets to live happily ever after.
Morgan needs to get away and clear his head, because he's worried he's too dangerous to be around other people. So he goes to the junkyard and tells Jadis (who says her real name is Anne) she can go back and live with the others. But he's staying there to isolate himself.
Negan gets to rot in a cell as an example to all. I dunno, I get people want to see him dead, but Rick was just honoring Carl's wishes to return to civilization. They can't just kill everyone, at some point they'll need to go back to the way society was, where you imprison your criminals, not just execute them.
But yeah, Maggie tells Jesus he was right not to just slaughter the Saviors she had captured at the Satellite outpost. After all Alden asked to stay at he hilltop, that he figures he can be a builder now, he wants to contribute to the community for the better. And she accepts him. Indeed, she says Rick was right to forgive the Saviors. But she can't abide Negan being alive. So she tells Jesus and Daryl that they're going to build the Hilltop up so it can defend itself and thrive. Then they'll show Rick and Michonne how wrong they were to spare Negan.
Timeless- Heh, this show drives me nuts sometimes! I appreciate that their time escapades have lasting consequences, with them often changing history slightly. Many time travel shows, thwarting the baddies results in no change. But they're constantly making timeline changes, which aggravates me that things in their world aren't "right".
This week, to save teen JFK from Rittenhouse, they pull him to the present to temporarily protect him until they can put him back. He escapes though, and Rufus and Jiya have a philosophical discussion about since they still know JFK is a president, things must work out and they're able to safely bring him back.
During JFK's misadventures in the present, he finds out all about the Kennedy curse and the deaths of himself and his siblings. Despite his future knowledge, they send him back. Actually, Rufus even warns Kennedy of the circumstances of his death. Which its insane how the gang is blase about stuff like this. Like, they're charged with protecting history, but they fuck with it all the time.
I mean, Kennedy still dies that day, but in Austin instead of Dallas. And not that anyone noticed (or would realize it I guess) but even before they put him back, the face on the half dollar turned into Nixon. So does Kennedy still do the things he did? Then why is Nixon on the coin now?
Oh, and Jessica finally finds out that Wyatt and Lucy had a thing. At first she's ready to leave, but Lucy tells her all of the things he did to try and save her. Heh, I appreciate that when Lucy tells Jessica about the telegram thing, she totally goes, "like in Back to the Future?!" Nice to see someone making those connections!
But yeah, even though it pains her, she manages to convince Jessica to stay with Wyatt. Which, that whole situation is still kinda wonky. I mean, Wyatt's whole thing in the first season was "angry soldier guy who's really sad about his wife's death!" But after the timeline change, to everyone other than he, Rufus, and Lucy, he was "workaholic soldier guy who abandoned his wife?"
