So I've basically had JCS stuck in my head all week. They released the soundtrack today, though its odd because the songs that you could pre-order, like "Gethsemane" and "I Don't Know How to Love Him' sound like studio recordings, while the rest of the soundtrack seems taken from the actual concert. Though at least it seems like the audio levels are adjusted so the crowd isn't drowning out the singers as much.
So I have songs from the 1973, 2000, and 2018 versions on my ipod, and I'll say my favorite versions of songs stretch across all three. Like you can't beat he '73 version of "Heaven on Their Minds", and I really like Sara Bareilles version of "I Don't Know How to Love Him". I think the 2000 version had the best version of "Simon Zealotes" though.
TV commentary:
OUAT- That didn't take long, thankfully! For Alice and Robin, or rather Tilly and Margot to get closer, and for a break to come in the Candy Killer case. Let's start with the good stuff. So things are tense between Margot and Kelly, because Zelena practically rang her daughter's phone off the hook trying to get her to come back, but now that she is back, Zelena is keeping Margot at arm's length because she can't really tell the truth of what's going on. Like why Kelly all of a sudden headed back to HH and abandoned her fiancee.
Which leads to a huge fight, with Margot complaining about their lack of communication. Luckily, she runs into Tilly. How? Well, Rogers gets Sabine to give Tilly a job at the Beignet truck. Tilly's not the best Beignet maker, but she's a great saleswoman. Its during all this that she bumps into Margot, and like their first meeting back in EF, Tilly makes a cute confusing mix up of her name (Margot tells her her name is Margot with a T, and Tilly is all, "Targo?")
Margot vents to her about her mom not telling her anything, but Tilly is all, it might be for a good reason, and it might be killing her not to be able to tell Margot. So this softens Margot towards her mom and she heads back to the bar to apologize. But yeah, Tilly and Margot both gush to their parents (well, Margot does, I guess Tilly thinks she's gushing to her cop friend) about the cute girl they met.
Its not all happy though, because Kelly mentions missing her fiancee and Margot tells her mom "Oh, don't worry, looks like he sent you a gift!" and its a Candy Killer heart box of chocolates. Which, I know she just got back, but she also said she listened to Henry's podcasts. Does she not know about the Candy Killer? Like its all over the news! I guess maybe they didn't go into specifics about the case, but if the killer is nicknamed the "Candy Killer", than the fact they leave chocolates for the victims must be out there.
In the flashbacks, Henry wants to make his mark, do something epic for Ella. And so Hook engineers a quest for Henry to find a ring from Davey Jones' Locker (a literal locker under the sea) to give to Ella. Only its all fake- he made Henry think they need to sneak onto the Blackbeard-captained Jolly Rogers, and they get captured, Blackbeard gets the map and recovers the locker, and then they "break free" and beat him and get the treasure. Only Blackbeard screws up and accidentally says something that makes Henry realize this was all a ruse, and he feels like a fool.
Hook tries to tell him that wasn't his intention, he just want to give Henry his epic adventure. But then Davey Jones conjures up a storm, pissed at the theft. Henry realizes the way to end it is to give back the ring, so despite Blackbeard's protests, he gets Hook to go back towards the giant whirlpool forming and throws the ring back. He also realizes he almost died trying to do something stupid to impress Ella when he already had her. And so he goes back and just propose to her with a simple ring.
In the present, Henry gets a call from someone in NY who heard his podcasts and want to interview him for a producer position. Jacinda is happy for him, but the problem is the job would be in NY. Before he leaves, Weaver shows up at his door asking for help on the case. Turns out he killer has a copy of his book with handwritten notes, so Weaver thinks he might be able to figure out the mind of this guy.
At first, Henry is frustrated and thinks its a waste of time, but then Rumpel says Henry Mills was his favorite character in the book, and how Henry is just like his character. At first Henry is all, well, he only wrote Henry that way like the guy he wants to be, but then it gives him a breakthrough- the killer must think he's one of the characters in the story.
It becomes pretty obvious its Hansel, because that's the only story the character the killer made notes on, saying the book got it wrong. Henry figures out Hansel has scars, and he's wanting to avenge his sister. This is enough info for Weaver and Rogers, so Weaver lets Henry go on his way.
Only on his way out of town, his car gets a flat near the troll. It looks like it was punctured by a piece of glass that looks like its from a glass slipper. He takes that as a sign, and Jack just happens to drive by at the time. He asks Jack to drive him back (which, its funny they don't ever acknowledge how awkward this all should be since in that world everyone thinks Jack is Lucy's father) and Henry talks about the case. During which Henry notices Jack's scarred arms.
Too bad he has a terrible poker face, so Jack figures Henry knows what's up, and manages to subdue him. Henry comes to all, "We'll tell the police you think you're Hansel, so maybe you'll just go to a loony bin instead of jail!" Unfortunately, Jack says the problem with that is then that means he can't continue killing!
And as I said in the beginning of this post, it sounds like Zelena is his next target.
