TV commentary:
Riverdale- Ha, I has seen the description of the episode, and they had mentioned V's upcoming "confirmation ceremony" and I was like, that's weird, is that something for her father's company or something? And then the episode happened and I realized, "Oh, a Catholic confirmation ceremony!" But its very weird, because she was the only one being confirmed! I mean, as far as I know, they don't like have confirmation ceremonies for a single person, you do that stuff in groups!
In any case, what's fascinating about this second half of the second season is as I've said before, people have their own crap going on, blissfully unaware of how their shit is actually colliding with other people's shit. So Jughead and his dad are getting evicted from their trailer, along with other people in their trailer park.
Ostensibly, its because of the vandalism of the statue, so the Sheriff is all the Mayor feels the trailer park is full of a criminal element and wants to curb that. Of course, if the head happens to be found, it could go a long way to maybe smoothing things over! And Jug shows his privilege yet again when he confronts Sierra, who's all, the governor came down on her ass. He's all, "Aren't you supposed to be an ally!?" Which, oh, because she's black and its a Confederate statue, of course she should take his side. Granted, like I said, there's a whole layer going on that he's not aware of for why she's doing what she's doing. But he shouldn't be claiming she should be against something just because of her race!
This leads to trouble within the serpents. As there are some, led by Tall Boy and Penny (who's back and tells everyone how Jug and some Serpents attacked her and cut off her tattoo), who blame Jug for their problems. Penny uses the attack to try as an excuse to try and get Jughead kicked out. Betty helps him realize the solution is to find who really stole the head to try and at least get that problem off his back.
And it works better than planned! They learn it was Tall Boy who did it, after getting paid off by Hiram. So, Tall Boy is out, and Jug is safe. But yeah, like I said, I'm not sure they grasp the full extent of what's going on here yet. Like Jug thought the Mayor and Sheriff are just being a-holes who hate poor people. Little do they know this is all shady real estate stuff. I mean, they're starting to learn after finding out Hiram hired Tall Boy to vandalize the statue to get the Serpents blamed. And it sounds like war, since they send the head to the Lodges as a Confirmation present for V. But I think they think Hiram just has a grudge against them, not that he like wants their land!
Oh, and Bughead seems to be back on after Jug's problems are taken care of. But, even though she got Bug to admit "he did stuff" with Toni, she doesn't fess up to the Archie kiss. Which seems like a bad idea. Does she not know Archie confessed to Veronica. And that it turned out to be no big deal, so either of them might just casually mention it to Jug?
Anyways, Adams puts more pressure on Archie to find out stuff. Archie does find out stuff- that one of Hiram's associates thinks he's gone soft, and plans to kill Hiram and take over. So Archie warns Hiram, who has the guy killed. And so in the end Adams is all, "This big mobster died, do you know anything about this!?" Archie lies and says he knows nothing.
And that's not even the only shocking murder in this ep! Betty comes home to find her mom and Chic cleaning up a dead body of some guy who showed up at the door looking for him. Guess we'll learn what that's all about next week!
