Comic Talk:

Walking Dead- Heh, that was expected. With Michonne mentioning her daughters on and off over the past several issues, you knew they were going to tie in somehow.

I am intrigued by this new story arc though. I mean, it seems crazy that such a strong settlement could develop without them hearing some inkling, though I suppose they had the whisperers between them. And I guess venturing out too far can be risky as well.

Hopefully they won't have something sinister going on at the heart of this place, since its already been doing multiple times in this comic. But if they can come to some sort of agreement, they can carve out a nice swath of safe country.

TV commentary:

One Day at a Time- Emotional season finale! But let's also talk about that depression episode. I think they did a really good job portraying depression, and they continued with the whole older generation not understanding its a real thing. Lydia continues to try her best to understand, and just to be there for her daughter.

And I really liked the comparison Schneider made about their situations, lest we forget he's an addict. Penelope disappointed that she's prolly going to be on pills for the rest of her life, and Schneider telling her how he has something he likes (alcohol/drugs) that he can never have for the rest of his life, while she has something she doesn't like (her antidepressants) that she has to be on for the rest of her life.

Anyways, onto the season finale. So Penelope and Lydia get into an argument over Penelope breaking up with Max- she does so because he wants kids, but she's done with that. I mean, I'm sure he'd be a great dad to Alex and Elena, but he kinda wanted to have the firsts with his own kids, that he would get to raise from when they're a baby. And even though he says he's fine with Penelope not wanting more kids, she could tell how much he really wants it. And so she doesn't want him to be resentful later.

Lydia thinks its a mistake, that maybe she should give him a kid. But what about her desire to be a nurse practitioner? Its a big argument, particularly since Lydia is still old fashioned and thinks she needs a man. Which, I'm surprised it didn't come up during all this how Lydia also thought she shouldn't have broken up with Victor. Because we know how that turned out.

But she has a stroke, and so she's in a coma and the family plus Leslie and Schneider all get alone time to say their peace. Alex's one on one is rather tame, prolly because they get along very well, and know each other's hearts, so he has nothing to really confess. But Elena confesses she had purposely stopped speaking Spanish as a way to get back at her, because of a particularly heated argument they had when she was a kid. Lydia would lecture her in Spanish, so by Elena cutting herself off from that part of her heritage, it kinda stole her grandma's thunder.

Leslie tells her he knows they can never really be anything more than friends, because Berto was the love of her live, but he tells her, she's his. Schneider tells a story about how Lydia was the only one who figured out she was an addict, so when he was in his 4th stint in rehab, she sent him a care package that really helped him through. And how she and her family have helped him with his addiction.

And then there's Penelope, I can't really do her justice, but yeah, she knows she's strong, but she is not ready for her Mami to go. And then we see Lydia, out of her body, with Berto ready to take her to heaven, he's waited so long. But alas, Lydia says while Penelope would be able to make it without her, she's not ready to leave her daughter and grandkids. So thankfully, she wakes up, and she and Schneider become citizens.
