TV commentary:

Runaways- Heh, the intro kinda answered things pretty quickly. So, we see Geoffrey Wilder's past, where he was in jail, and Catherine was his lawyer, and they got an offer of $5 mil from some guy we've never seen on some random property he owned (which seems to be the site of that construction in the 2nd ep). Geoffrey wasn't just going to sell, he wanted to partner up.

The guy said he had no use for a partner in jail, so Catherine was all, "What if he was out?" And so Geoffrey got Darius to take the rap for the murder he was in for in exchange for taking care of Darius' loved ones. Which he seemed to renege on, hence Darius trying to shake him down.

Which, I was complaining about who is this random nobody, but I guess he has legitimate beef. But yeah, given they dropped this random piece of info all of a sudden, its like, "Gee, I wonder who grabbed Alex?" It is funny that it did end up being someone who has nothing to do with the PRIDE.

Anyways, the girls get together and try to find Alex, with Gert trying to be the voice of reason and saying this is crazy. Chase is busy bonding with his dad, and man, its so sad. He's like so afraid of his dad that even though they were having fun working on his fist things, when Chase accidentally knocks over a laptop, he freaks the eff out. Man, Victor must've messed him up bad to evoke such a heightened startle response. And to his credit, he does seem to recognize what he's done to his son and made him afraid and apologizes. He does rush off to meet the girls with his fists once he gets their messages.

But yeah, Geoffrey tries to rescue Alex, wherein Alex shoots that Andre kid, but Darius still manages to hold onto him. Which is lucky the kids end up showing up to rescue Alex and get to demonstrate all their trick. Well, except for Gert. But finally they know Molly has super strength! I mean, at least Karolina got to show her powers to Chase before, but everyone was being so dismissive of Molly. They get Alex back and chase Darius off.

Anyways, after Alex is freed, he runs back to his dad, who's busy putting Andre in the car for a PRIDE sacrifice. Which, he had no idea Alex's friends would rescue him! Was that dude really going to make a human sacrifice while his son was being held hostage?

But yeah, the kids resolve to rescue Andre and not let their parents continue to be, you know, crazy human sacrificers. And its funny, because the Yorkes are tending to Andre's wounds so he won't die before they sacrifice him, and Dale like gives Andre that cup. And Andre is all, "Is it medicine?" and Dale is like, "Sure!" Dude, can't you even try to convincingly lie to the poor kid. Which, that kid must really be out of it since he totally accepts it even though that was the least convincing lie ever. Though I guess beggers can't be choosers, I mean, he's dying, its not like he's going to turn down anything that might save him.

Heh, it was pretty obvious though since we don't get any clear visual clues where the parents were that the kids would go to the Wilders' basement but he parents were making the sacrifice somewhere else.

Also, how blind are some viewers? I mean, its obvious Karolina is into Nico! The hug at the beginning when Karolina was freaking out, and then she like cups the back of Nico's head and her eyes open and she has this look of realization. Then later, when Karolina walks in on Alex and Nico making out and looking all sad and the hitch of her breath as Nico passes by?

Interesting though, I wasn't sure if the rest of the Pride knew about the creepy dude in Leslie's secret room. I mean, I figured they knew that's who they were making the sacrifices to, but wasn't sure if they knew what he looked like or what his state was. But apparently they do, since Andre is sacrificed right there. I guess that's one way to be sure it worked. Though its weird Leslie sent the rest of the Pride away after the sacrifice and wouldn't let them see the guy after.

Obviously, since they build up his identity as a mystery, its like "Gee, I wonder if its that random guy in the beginning who made Geoffrey that offer?" After being back to his old self, he tells Leslie his biggest fear wasn't dying, it was dying before looking into her eyes. Presumably he means Karolina? Is she Karolina's real dad? After all, he was all glowy before the sacrifice.

But yeah, its sad that Chase was the one who's being abused, yet the first one trying to defend his parents all, "Maybe they're doing this for a good reason!" The rest of them are all, what good reason could there be for HUMAN SACRIFICE?! And even he can't come up with anything.

Its funny, because the script has been flipped with all these parent-children relationships. I mean, I think Alex hadn't exactly been on the best of terms with his parents after Amy's death, but it was more, he was kinda nerdy and felt his parents just didn't get him. And now he finds out his father is in a cult, betrayed his friends back in the day. And he doesn't even know his mom is just as hardcore! Like Geoffrey tried to keep mum about the whole Darius thing, but Catherine finds out, and she basically intimates they need to get rid of Darius as soon as possible.

But yeah, Karolina is having a huge crisis of faith, wrecking her room over everything she's learned, with her mom being a liar and the whole church of Gibborim thing being not what she thought it was. And ooh, Frank didn't make Ultra, he's pretty upset about that since he thinks that's why there's a rift between him and Leslie, wait until he finds out her real lover is back! Honestly, I thought the whole Ultra thing was BS and she was going to sacrifice him until Andre came along. So he should be glad to be alive.

Heh, then we have the Yorkes, who don't see too bad or good, just weird. But Gert's resolved. She tells Molly, her parents did horrible things, therefore they must be bad people.

And then you have Nico and Chase, who had the worst parents in the beginning. But then Tina catches Nico sneaking in with the Staff of One, and rather than it being trouble, Tina's happy and is all, "You're the only other person in the world who can use it!" and even lets her keep it for the night. Which begs the question, what did she think her daughter was doing it.

And then Chase, Victor shows Chase his project, which is a device that lets one view the future. It doesn't work, and again, Chase's heightened startle response makes him worry when Victor gets mad. But rather than getting smacked around, his dad confesses he has brain cancer!

And of course, once they leave the room, the viewer starts working and shows a destroyed LA.
