So beat the katana-only, AD-2013, ghost, full stop, throwing, bare hands, and hotswitch challenges. Bare hands was ostensibly the toughest- I mean, not even being able to throw things to at least stop the enemy from shooting you and being forced to close the distance was tough. While you couldn't use objects in ghost mode either, at least one punch kills. Having to dodge freaking shotgun blasts and rifle fire, and then have to punch the enemy three times in a row is brutal.

Especially when its a group of enemies! Using the elevator level as an example:

There's a lot of having to switch back and forth between enemies, which frustratingly resets the punch counter, but sometimes you have no choice, lest you get punched back or shot in the face when they pick their gun back up. I did notice if you punch a guy at the exact moment he fires, it will auto kill him.

The main thing with hotswitch mode is its really just speedrun mode with the ability to hotswitch from the beginning. In this way its easier than speedrun because its all about using hotswitch to save precious sections. Particularly knowing which guy is last so you can hotswitch into him and end the level. Beat the redtimes on all those.

Not sure if I'll actually try and beat all the redtimes in speedrun and speedrunRT, because those are more about doing things friggin perfectly, and I have no interest in that. The other challenges were fun because they gave you different parameters from the normal gameplay.

There's hard mode, which I played a little of- the main things are enemies take 5 punches to kill if you try to kill them that way, they aren't stunned as long as they normally are, and that the time dilation isn't as slow. Beating that unlocks impossible mode, which is the same, but guns only have one round. Which isn't that impossible, half the time I just shoot once and toss anyways. I might try to finish both those.

I believe the last thing to unlock is the norestart mode, which you try to go through all the levels without dying. And again, that's no fun to me, because its more about doing things perfect. Like one small misstep, and you could be totally effed.

And sometimes you owe things to luck- like enemies who's weapons are randomly set show up barehanded or with a melee weapon or pistol instead of a freaking shotgun or assault rifle. You could do the first few levels perfectly, get a terrible draw, and have to start from square one. I have no desire to test myself that way.

TV commentary:

Rick and Morty- You know, I wasn't sure why people were so egg-cited for Pickle Rick, but that ep ended up being freaking awesome.
