TV commentary:

Fargo- That was a pleasant surprise! So I know some people were hoping Nikki and Wrench would continue to team up to take on Varga. But I was precarious, I was worried it was just a clever little one (well, two) off. Like he helped her survive the assassination attempt and then they went their separate ways. I just didn't want to get my hopes up.

But nope, they've teamed up to take Varga down. Its an interesting dynamic Nikki has going with Varga. She and Wrench steal his truck and thus get their hands on his records. Which Nikki is trying to blackmail Varga to give her a payoff. Though I'm not sure how much she cares about the money, she does seem more intent on taking Varga down. Varga says he didn't kill Ray. But Nikki counters it wasn't Emmitt who sent assassins after her.

I'm not sure how serious Varga is about his "job offer". I mean, he is down a few men, and Nikki has proven herself to be cleverer than he expected. Then again, Nikki got his number when she guessed he had a sniper (Meemo) trained on her, ready to take her out if she had the blackmail material there. Nikki says the place is public, and he's a distinctive looking guy, but Varga had seeded the meeting place with similarly dressed people. He thinks he has Nikki caught, but since he has no idea about Mr Wrench, he wasn't prepared for Wrench to sneak up on Meemo so Nikki was free to walk out of there.

Though Meemo and the random henchmen would've known about Mr Wrench when he and Nikki took the truck. At the very least, he was there when Wrench kicked DJ Quall's ass in the bus when he tried to take out Nikki. Like he was busy executing innocent passers by so he had no idea what happened to Yuri or Golem, but he's now had two occasions were someone was helping out Nikki. So they should've accounted for Wrench.

Although, what's up with Mr Wrench joining her as she struts out of the meet? She just said her advantage was her new partner. So why show him with her and lose that advantage. I mean, even though Meemo should know him, better safe than sorry. Though I realize now Meemo might not have gotten a good look at him. I mean, the bus was tight and hectic, so he might not have gotten a good luck at who was fighting DJ Qualls. And then at the truck ambush he was busy taking cover from a grenade to see Wrench. Though the random hench people in the follow truck should've seen him, I thought Wrench just made them duck their heads. Though maybe I just answered my question, he made them duck their heads, so they might not have gotten a good look at him.

Anyways, as for Emmit's confession, Gloria takes it, and thinks she's finally solved this case. Too bad Varga had Meemo kill some random Stussys in the exact same manner as Gloria's step dad and Ray, paid off some random hobo to take credit for the kills (he hates Stussys because his mom dated a Stussy who molested him when he was a kid), along with convenient evidence.

So the murders are tied up neatly with a little bow, and Gloria has no choice but to release Emmitt. Who sheepishly goes to Varga's waiting car, having come to the realization that he's stuck under his thumb.

She drowns her sorrows with Winnie. Gloria's all sad at the loss, saying she tries and she tried, but she doesn't win. And she brings up the whole things not sensing her making her not feel real, and so she's thinking everything is pointless and she's not a real person. Winnie cheers her up and tells her she's real. And what do you know, the sink and soap dispenser can detect her now!

And hey, looks like Nikki dropped off some info with that IRS guy from a few eps back. So looks like he may finally be exposed.

EDIT- Whoops, I guess I forgot to talk about Emmitt's confession. He actually admits that Ray was right- he indeed did trick his brother into taking the Corvette over the stamp collection. And he's been feeling guilt all his life ever since, because he know it ruined his brother's life. For one, by telling his brother to choose style, the car to help him get laid, he condemned his brother to a life of looking for easy fixes like that. Which obviously don't work. In a way, Ray became a wretch because of that experience.

So yes, Emmitt ruined his life in more ways than one- not just by tricking him. Ray blamed his lot on Emmitt, like if Ray only had the money from the stamps, his life would be better. But again, he thinks like that because he was duped into thinking a car would change his life when he was a kid. I mean, it probably did. But yeah, he sees Emmitt with the good life, and while the stamp collection helped, its because he was wise enough to sell and invest the money properly. Emmitt had broken Ray that the present Ray, if he had that money would just blow through it and be back in the same shitty situation.

So Emmitt says he didn't just kill Ray by accidentally hitting him with the frame and the glass cutting his throat, but by setting up the confrontation decades earlier.
