ME:A blather- So just did Peebee's loyalty mission, and I find the climax to be kinda bonkers. I mean, there's renegade, and there's being a freaking psychopath! So in the end, Peebee has to choose between saving the artifact she's been searching for all this time, or saving the life of her rival. Now if it were your job to convince her one way or the other, that would be fine.

But as it is, Peebee on her own chooses on her own to save Kalinda, but you have the option to freaking murder a helpless Kalinda so Peebee won't have to save her anymore and instead go for the tech. Which doesn't make sense at all!

I mean, again, if it was convincing Peebee to reluctantly choose Kalinda instead, and then later you convince her its for the best, that works. But basically killing the person Peebee is trying to save, why in the world would that get her loyalty. I was honestly half considering going back and shooting her to see how it plays out, because I can't see how that would end any way good.

Like I can see people destroying the genophage cure or condemning the Geth or Quarians to die, because they feel justified- maybe they think the Krogans or Geth are too dangerous, or they warned the Quarians to back off otherwise the Geth will destroy them in self defense, and they're bring it upon themselves.

I just don't feel they built up the usefulness of Peebee's little project to justify shooting a helpless person. Its one thing to let Drack pull a Sully from Commando and drop a loathsome pirate. I mean, Ahnuld was the hero in the movie and they play it out like that's an okay thing to do. But again, killing someone so someone else will no longer try to save them is a pretty evil act. And while Peebee said it could lead to big insights into the Remnant, a) she didn't give anything concrete, and b) its not a project Ryder or the Initiative think is a huge priority. Like if this was something they were actively pursuing, I could see Ryder being an asshole and prioritizing it, but otherwise, it seems like a totally unreasonable, psychopathic move.

Heh, its also silly because you just cut down dozens of Kalinda's men like wheat. And all of a sudden, Peebee's like "I can't let her die!" But butchering dozens of other guys she doesn't know is fine!

In any case, even though I keep saying it, I'm 99.9% sure I've done everything else on every other planet beside Elaaden. Well, maybe the pregnant lady who's been hiding out who I'm supposed to draw out by establishing another outpost, the end game of that might be on another planet. So once I finish up Elaaden, all I have left is the main storyline missions.

Doing everything else before beating the game though means I won't have anything else to do afterward, but that's fine. I might just do random encounters and continue to level up and try and max out skills. Voeld still seems to give 450+ xp per encounter, which would still take a while, but you know me, I have no problem with mindless grinding.

I might also just wait. I'm actually hesitant to do a new game+ because the game is still kinda buggy. Like in theory, you keep all non-storyline gear, so as to not screw up certain quests by having something that would activate/complete a quest before you're supposed to. The problem is some of that stuff does indeed disappear, but some don't because they're in your normal inventory instead of your special item inventory.

The other problem is the jury is still out on whether they addressed the level scaling past lvl 80. Now, despite the less than stellar reviews, I presume they'll release some DLC. Now, with my original save, I can just stop leveling if the over-leveling thing is a problem. But with a new game plus, I can't help but gain levels trying to redo everything I did before.

Also, there are a number of buggy quests right now. The new one that came with the patch, "Earn Your Badge", I heard people have it bug out on them. It actually worked fine for me. But who knows if that will be the case the next time around.

So between all those things, I'd rather start any DLC off my original save, unless they for sure address the leveling thing and the bugs.

TV commentary:

Riverdale- Heh, okay, the subplot with Ethel and Veronica?! Ah'm incredulous! This whole time Ethel didn't know Veronica was a Lodge?! That makes no sense whatsoever! I mean, no offense to the town of Riverdale, but its podunk. Someone like the Lodges show up, everyone in that town is going to know everything!

I guess its possible 1) Ethel knew Veronica was a Lodge, but her mom didn't, so when Ethel mentioned V, she wouldn't be all, "Veronica Lodge?! Those pricks sent your father into financial ruin! And 2) Ethel didn't know that, that that's why her parents were stressed and freaking out, because her dad lost all that money with the Lodges.

Other stuff- apparently Polly only went to the Blossoms to secretly spy on them because she thinks they're responsible for Jason's death. Fred finds out everything- that Hermione and Hiram were the secret buyers, and how Hiram found out about the two of them and sent thugs to mess with his business. He'll still work with Hermione on the development, that that's all they are now, business partners. Whatever thing was developing between them is done.

Also, Archie is a dope. He basically whores himself out to Cheryl. Her family is so fucked up that they think she's unstable, but with a guy like Archie by her side, that will make her an acceptable heir. Cheryl makes a move on him, but he refuses, since he's with Val.

But in the end, he's totally fucked. Val is disgusted with how he would compromise himself like that, to ditch her and spend time with Cheryl for the promises of the Blossoms to help get into a prestigious musical school and stop messing with his dad's project. And I don't even think she knows about this kiss! And because he rejected Cheryl, she's secretly gone all psycho, scribbling over his and Polly's face in the big pic taken during the festivities.

I mean, I guess maybe his father doesn't have to worry about the Blossom's anymore. But he lost his girlfriend, and has a crazy person pissed at him!
