TVD- Wow, that was unexpected, and awesome! With Cade's death this ep, Katherine Pierce is apparently the queen of hell! Although, "the one person worse than Cade?" that's BS! She's evil, but worse than the actual devil? I mean, there are plenty of people on TVD/The Originals who are objectively worse than her! Its certainly bad for the MF gang, because she has a personal grudge against them. But I'm getting ahead of myself.
So Damon did indeed die at the end of last ep. So Cade makes a deal with Damon, since Kai sorta double crossed him. Cade had made a deal with Kai for Elena, but Kai secretly took possession of the dagger that could kill Cade. So he wants Damon to retrieve the blade.
Anyways, long story short, they capture Kai and imprison him in the Armory and enact their plan. Since Alaric is not of the Maxwell bloodline, apparently he can ring the bell safely to stun Cade while Stefan tries to stab him with the knife. Too bad Kai chooses this time to escape, so Alaric has to stop to rescue his daughters, but more on that later.
So Cade overcomes Stefan and starts to set fire to Elena's coffin when Damon shows up. Cade tells Damon he must choose between Stefan and Elena. But Damon chooses himself instead, and stakes himself. Luckily, Bonnie's psychic link to Elena from the curse alerted her to what's going on. So she goes to confront Cade on the psychic plane, wherein she finds out Damon is dead. Cade tries to take his soul, but Bonnie fights with all of her might, despite Damon's protests to let him go and save herself. But she manages to hold Cade off just long enough for Stefan to stab Cade in the real world.
So the devil is dead, and the backlash manages to blow Damon back into his body, so he's fine. Not that that would be a surprise. With everything all good, Damon convinces his brother not to be an idiot, so Stefan decides to stay and re-proposes to Caroline.
Bonnie also imprisons Kai in a new, better prison world. But not before he tells them the whole Cade dying would destroy hell. It was a lie, and now that Cade is gone, Katherine has taken over. And revenge on the MF gang is prolly at the top of her list.
Anyways, on to how Kai got to that point. So he's imprisoned in the Armory, but just siphons the magic from the wards contained within the walls to power himself up and temporarily take out Caroline so he could hunt down Josie and Lizzie. Which is BS, because then why couldn't Mary Louise and Nora do that same thing, weren't they heretics and therefore siphoners too?
But yeah, Alaric manages to beat him down, allowing Bonnie to trap him in another prison world.
Anyways, other stuff, Lizzie and Josie are causing trouble with their powers, and Alaric and Caroline are exasperated. They think maybe the girls are upset about the situation and all that happened, but Kai tells those boneheads the problem while he's prisoner. They're powerful young witches! As much as they want a normal life for them, they'll never have that, they need specialized teaching to help guide them.
So they kick themselves for missing such an obvious solution, and apparently Bonnie will tutor them. And Alaric wants to turn the Armory into a magic school to teach other kids like them learn to control their magic.
