TV commentary:

Bunheads- Heh, so there was a familiarity to Michelle's voice that I chalked up to similarity in mannerisms/dialogue to Lorelai, but then [livejournal.com profile] clevemire passed by and said she sounds like Sweet Dee and now I can't unhear it. Just finished "What's Your Damage, Heather?", i.e. the one where Michelle starts to see the influence she has on the girls. She butts heads with Sasha over stealing her stuff, but its a good thing- Sasha needed telling off, and I want to say a part of her appreciated it. I mean, the previous ep, she admitted to her parents about sneaking out and accidentally damaged the roof of her mom's car. And her parents didn't even punish her. Like she acted like it was so cool that she screwed up and she got a credit card out of it, but that just feeds into her feeling that her parents don't actually care. They didn't even notice she was gone! If she didn't fess up, part of me wonders if the mom wouldn't think it was the dad who damaged the car out of spite since they had spent all night fighting and wrecking things.

So its kinda funny when she's telling Boo's mom she feels like she messed up trying to be the girls' friend when she did give Sasha the mothering she needed. Heh, she also ends up breaking up Ginny and her bf accidentally. It was a little weird that Ginny had this long time bf since she is still just a teen. But Michelle regales the girls with stories about how she played the field when she was younger, and Ginny realizes maybe she wants more.

Heh, her mom embarrassingly confronts Michelle after class, because she liked Ginny's bf. And I think since she's smarting from her own husband leaving her, she's angry with Michelle for "making" Ginny give up on a good thing. That once she has that, she has to hold on to it and never let it go. The problem is Ginny and her bf are too young and inexperienced to know if it really is a good thing. What seems like love could just be routine. And it would suck for them 10 years down the line to get married and have kids and only realize then that its not meant to be.

It also has another unintended side effect- upon hearing that Ginny's available, Melanie's brother asks Boo to talk him up to her. Which just kills her given her crush on him. Heh, its kinda weird, because she's mostly invisible to him, and while they do all hang out, it seems like Ginny is Melanie's best friend. But Boo is just visible enough for Charlie to freaking write other girl's numbers on her arm so she can text them to him later, or to talk him up to Ginny? I would think he just wouldn't notice her at all.

Which is dumb, because Boo is awesome (all four of the girls are pretty cool in their own ways) and she really should get more play. But yeah, its a knife in the heart to Boo. And Ginny is flattered. Like, she would never go out with him because Boo used to like him, but she's thrilled that she does have options post break up. So needless to day, even though Boo's mom tells Michelle that Boo talks about her all the time, Boo's kinda pissed at Michelle by the end of the ep. If Michelle hadn't influenced Ginny to break up with her boyfriend, she wouldn't have to deal with Charlie wanting to get her to put in a good word for him with Ginny.
