TV commentary:
Vampire Diaries- It wouldn't be TVD if there wasn't a secret connection we were unaware of. Heh, to no surprise, Damon is just fine. Cade just resurrected him so he and Sybil can menace the MF gang. But he also has Damon stake Stefan so they can talk.
We finally find out what happened in Monterrey. He slaughter an entire work camp. But!! Seline was there, all ready to eat Stefan for his wickedness. But when she saw into his mind, she didn't see evil, but anguish. It was enough to cause her to quit working for Cade. Which is what got his attention. Though this "unknown chapter" is kinda thin. "This Stefan is the perfect servant, I must have him!" So he doesn't do anything for a freaking century!? And when Damon and Enzo come under Sybil's sway, he doesn't seem to direct her to try and get Stefan? Like the deal last ep was kinda spur of the moment. And we find out it was his desire all along?
Anyways, interestingly enough, Seline tried to relieve some of Stefan's pain, making him forget the worst of Monterrey, that he massacred those people in freaking Christmas. More importantly, it made him forget he was a horrible monster, and felt he was worthy of redemption.
The Ripper stuff is useful, but we find out Cade's interest in Stefan is even worse. He takes him to the moment he met Elena, and taunts him with the fact that had he just kept away from Elena, she wouldn't have been drawn into their shit and would've prolly live a nice, normal, goodly life. And that is what Cade really wants him for, not for his skill at slaughter, but the ability to turn a good person with the potential to be bad and corrupt them. Because as Cade puts it, those are the souls that taste the sweetest- the ones that were headed towards the pearly gates but end up on the bad path.
So Stefan agrees to do it for one year, then he and his brother are free.
While Stefan is taking his "nap". Damon menaces Caroline's party while Bonnie and Enzo go and find the tuning fork. They find it with Seline, who helps them because she seeks redemption. She figures that's the only way to avoid hell now. She gives them the fork, but begs them to convince Alaric to let her see the girls one last time. Turns out she imprinted on them, and she has to see them again to remove that imprint else they will continue to seek her out. So in the end, he agrees, and she does seem to be true to her word and erases herself from the twins' minds.
But before that, Damon tells the party (consisting of Sybil, Caroline, Alaric, Matt, and his dad Peter) he's going to kill the evilest of them, by his determination. I mean, he's kinda pissed at Matt and Alaric for trying to kill him. But he focuses on Peter. Like he really gets onto Peter because when Damon does the "what's the worst thing you've ever done?" thing, he freaking says he cheated on his taxes and gambled and not, you know, abandoned his family.
So, in his Damon way, i.e. murderous threats, he finally gets Peter to spill the beans on why he left. No noble secret or anything, he was just an asshole- he had just knocked up Kelly a second time. And he couldn't handle a second kid. Actually its worse, the way he puts it, if he stayed, he knew he'd be stuck as a do nothing townie saddle with two kids, so he had to get out.
And so, Damon picks him the winner! But Sybil needs info out of him first. Because when we first meet Peter and before we knew he was Matt's dad, Damon had been sent to retrieve something he had that she needs. We don't get any further insight into that, because Bonenzo show up with the tuning fork and stun her. But, we find out something new- it affects Bonnie (I guess she wasn't around the last time the fork was used). And we've seen it affect Jo and Lizzie, so it looks like the fork isn't just for sirens, it affects witches too.
So Damon grabs Sybil and runs off with her before the others can pounce. But heh, this is where Caroline is freaking brilliant and put forth a plan that comes to fruition. When talking earlier with the others, she realizes if Elena was still around, Damon wouldn't be such a dick. So she decides to give Sybil a present- Elena's necklace. So after Sybil and Damon get away, she finally opens the present, and its Elena's necklace. Luckily, she doesn't realize the significance of it. Because when Damon sees it, it finally reminds him of Elena, and he remembers her. And so he rips out Sybil's heart and goes to pick up his brother.
So in the end, Damon and Stefan leave MF, with Stefan flipping his switch as soon as they leave its borders.
