TV commentary:

Westworld- Crazy season finale! The finally straighten out the timeline. So let's start with that. So, Arnold is... troubled that the hosts are gaining consciousness. So he can't in good conscience allow the park to open. He tries to dissuade Ford, to no avail. So he gets Dolores to slaughter the rest of the hosts, with Teddy's help, since Teddy will do anything for her, then kill him, Teddy, than herself.

Obviously, the park still opens. Which brings us to William, who is confirmed to be the Man in Black. We see he never finds Dolores during that current narrative he was in. The whole experience starts shifting him into the man he is now, but the final straw was when he went back to town and sees her again, going through the same meetup with another customer and not remembering him. Which, did no one tell him how the park worked? Like he spent all this time looking for her out there, and she was back at her starting point! Did he just not run into her for a while? Though I guess he was hoping against hope she was out there and not reset.

But this ended up being a boon to Ford, because William's obsession caused him to invest heavily in the park, solving Ford's money woes following the massacre. Though its weird, because the park had been running for a while before William showed up, so obviously he had enough capital for that. But I guess they could've been having money issues that William solved?

Anyways, in the present, where Dolores and the Man in Black are back together, she does end up figuring out the maze, and it leads to a crappy toy that once belonged to Arnold's son (so Bernard's backstory is real, that did actually happen to Arnold) that had helped him figure out how to get the hosts to be self aware thing. Needless to say, William/MiB is let down and takes it out on her. She says someone is coming to rescue her, and we think she's referring to Teddy. But then she says she's waiting for William. Which MiB finds rich since he IS William. So he breaks the news to her, and I guess the realization that even William is an a-hole like the other humans, she kicks his ass. But he does manage to fatally stab her, but Teddy does show up at this point and spirit her away.

Heh, then Ford shows up and finally explains the Maze was indeed not for him, it was a task Arnold set up to get the hosts to "wake up". MiB was hoping it would lead to new hosts that weren't programmed to lose, i.e. a worthy challenge, something where there were actual stakes. But I guess it was in Ford's best interest to let William keep his delusions all this time so he'd keep on funding the park.

Anyways, Teddy takes Dolores to the coast, where she dies in his arms, but he's all hopeful for the future, that they'll find each other again and find a way out of this awful place. Only, Ford seems to have co-opted the situation and turned it into the new narrative he's demonstrating for the board, who are all on site to visit.

Meanwhile, Maeve starts her big escape. I guess she purposely burned herself and Hector to death so she could be rebuilt without the bomb in her spine. Unsure if Hector or Armistice got the same treatment. But yeah, Hector and Armistice end up killing the techs working on them, and they shut down surveillance so they can make it to the workshop. Turns out, Ford may have purposely had Bernard kill himself there on purpose, in order for Maeve to find him and bring him back online and get info from him.

Bernard remembers everything, and breaks the news to her that this isn't the first time she's woken up. There have been a few hosts who've woken up and had to be "put back to sleep", but a few can't/won't go back and end up going crazy. He also tells her she's not as self-aware as she thought. Because her whole waking up and escaping is actually just a new narrative programmed into her. But she doesn't care, she's going to try and escape anyways.

So, someone, perhaps Maeve and her gang, perhaps someone else, shuts down the main control room and locking them in and I guess cutting off all communication between them and the rest of the park. Which is kinda weird, because several things go on at the same time where security knows to respond to Maeve's breakout, but apparently they're not able to warn the rest of the park, like the VIPs at the party (going on at the same town Dolores slaughtered everyone), or the entrance to lock everything down and preventing anyone from leaving or coming in.

But yeah, because Hector and Armistice are crazy killer robots, they cut through security like a hot knife through butter. (Heh, I love how thrilled Armistice is upon discovering hand held automatic weaponry!) On their way out, they find the tech lab for "Samurai World", and Armistice gets stuck in a door and tells the others to go on without her. They make their way to the elevator out, but apparently Maeve programmed, or rather didn't program Hector with the ability to leave, so he stays behind and holds off more guards.

So on the way to the trains, Felix gives Maeve the location of her daughter (in Park 1, is that Westworld, or is that another park?). At first Maeve is like whatever, its not like its her real daughter. But right before the train leaves, she freaking gets off in order to get her. Which doesn't seem practical at all, because how would she get her out. They basically burned the ability to use the labs, so its not like she has a way to removed the bomb from her daughter's spine.

So while all this wonton slaughter is going on, the VIPs are blissfully unaware. Charlotte sends Lee on their little project to smuggle Abernathy out of the park. Only when he gets there, all the stored hosts are gone. Where are they? Well, basically Ford pulls an Arnold (or at least I presume he did). Charlotte had basically told Ford he's out, and he should announce his retirement at this party after introducing his new narrative. So he gives his speech, and talks about how Arnold was right, and then Dolores shoots him in the head and starts slaughtering people left and right.

Interestingly enough, Teddy seems horrified, Bernard seems... surprised, and the rest of the hosts look on strangely ecstatic over the turn of events, though they do not join in on the killing just yet. However, MiB, who's hanging in the cemetery, is winged by Clementine, who's there in the woods with the rest of the stored hosts, presumably to cause mayhem.

But that's where it ends, so I guess we'll have to wait until next season to see how everything turns out. I guess some unanswered questions include, who programmed the escape routine into Maeve? Ford? Was this supposed to be coordinated with Dolores rebellion, or is this all a coincidence?

Anyways, its funny, but the only named character who doesn't seem to survive the season finale is Ford (though who knows, we still don't know who was being built in the secret lab, it could be a clone of him, that he either sent to die for him at the party, or to take over for him). Everyone else, who knows? The hosts at the party are in no danger. Armistice got her hand stuck in a door, but there's a post credits scene (why the hell would they put a post credits scene, I bet a lot of people missed it!) where she chops her arm off and presumably kills more security guards. We see the elevator door close when Hector goes to hold the guards off for Maeve, but again, we don't see him in actual trouble, he could've easily just slaughtered the guards coming after him.

But yeah, Lee's in an empty vault, Charlotte ducks during Dolores rampage, Clementine only wounded MiB, Felix is still alive after getting Maeve to the station, and even Sylvester was left alive, with the caveat that Maeve would send Armistice back to kill him if he did anything other than hide in the lab. So, a bunch of randoms get killed, but no main cast member is in real danger.

Heh, I mean, even throughout the series, Theresa might be the only actual casualty. We never see if Bernard finished Elsie off, and we don't know what happened to Ashley after he was attacked by the natives.
