Luke Cage- Halfway through the season. Color me shocked! I was a little surprised Cottonmouth bit it. Not too surprised, because I expected things between him and Mariah to come to a head. And in that confrontation, because Cottonmouth was a mere crime lord, while it seemed like the show had more interesting things in store for Mariah, I expected her to come out on top. The circumstances though, were surprising.
We see young Cornell, who wanted to be a musician, but was forced into the life of a gangster, having to go so far as to kill his uncle Pete, who he felt was the only one who believed in him. Cornell, who grew resentful of his cousin who got to be all "legit". But we learn Mariah was shipped off to boarding school because their uncle was a rapist pervert. So in the present, when they get into an argument over his business effing over her political career, he brings up her getting the chance to have a "better" life. She brings up the rape, and he has the gall to victim blame, saying she was always flirting with him by "running around half naked" and asked for it.
So she flips out and kills him. Shades witnesses this, and cleans it up by being all, "OMG, look at you, finding your poor cousin's body after being killed by Luke Cage!" And wow, that is incredibly bad timing for Luke, who just had a confrontation with Misty and saying he was going to "take care" of Cottonmouth once and for all. Oops!
But damn, talk about insidious though, the weapon used to try and take down Luke. An armor piercing, explosive bullet. So, it penetrates into him, but then explodes inside. Which is just horrific, because an ordinary doctor can't get past his bulletproof skin to try and repair the damage. Luckily he's with Claire at the time!
Which, interesting, its cool to see Claire as she evolves through these series. She tells her mom she's thinking of being nurse to the heroes of the street full time. And her mom gives her her blessing, saying the fact that she keeps randomly bumping into all these powered types is fate.
But what the eff man, I swear, there's a conspiracy trying to stop me from watching this show. First, the netflix app keeps freezing up my PS3, so I can't watch it there. And right after I finish episode 7, netflix is currently unreachable. This is total BS!!
