TV commentary:
The Fosters- A dirty trick, but obvious. So when Stef and Lena were all, "we're getting a divorce!" at first I thought that was just to get the kids' attention. But then they do the whole 36 hours earlier thing. And then they try to do these red herrings about things being tense between Stef and Lena. But please, like they all of a sudden have irreconcilable differences and want to break up? Though the answer was right there at the beginning, with the realtor suddenly having to take a call from he soon to be ex-husband about their frozen assets. At that point I was all, gee, I wonder if Stef and Lena are going to fake a divorce in order to prevent the house from being seized?
And sure enough, they decide to just file for divorce- Lena's mom did something in order to get the lien on the house removed. But since the buyer doesn't want to be let out of escrow, Stef and Lena are fake filing for divorce in order to freeze their assets in the hopes the buyers will walk away. Which, we sympathize with Stef and Lena because this is the Fosters, and not "random newlywed couple with a baby on the way", but it is kinda a dick move on their part.
And wow, Mike is a fucking a-hole! Way to lose any goodwill he earned over the series! Callie toyed with Brandon and AJ and can't help herself from yanking all these dudes' chains and he doesn't want another one of HIS sons getting hurt? Dick. I mean, its cool that he considers AJ his son, but that's tempered by the fact he basically slut shamed Callie. (And ouch, all that unknowingly in front of Callie since she and AJ were hiding in the closet when he said that!)
And wow, speaking of Jude is still pissed about Callie getting mad at Noah, and burns her all, "At least he's not my foster brother!" Damn dude, not cool. (Heh, as karmic retribution, the moms catch him smoking up in the garage with Noah)
Speaking of Callie, glad she shared the info she learned with the parental units, who went to question the suspect. Hmm, I wonder if he's like mentally ill and related to some cop who's covering up the crime to protect him, because the guy definitely doesn't seem all there. And I guess Stef doesn't know for sure this guy has some cop protecting him, but that was still bold giving her card to the guy, because the guy might've told his cop friend, and they'd be all, "Adams-Foster? Like that girl who's been nosing around?" Though its not like they couldn't figure out it was Stef and Mike asking anyways.
And yeah, it didn't take long for a cop guy showing up at their yard sale all threateningly. Of course, and in the guy's defense, its not like he knows her, but that is the exact wrong tactic to take with Stef.
Then of course Callie gets the news about Kyle being transferred to actual prison, so she goes and does something crazy and breaks into the suspects house to try and get DNA evidence. Heh, its too bad Aaron doesn't know Callie well enough yet to realize when she was all, "Hey, if we got some DNA evidence that shows this guy might be the killer, will your group take the case?" she was freaking already at the guy's house ready to break in.
The guy does see her as she gets away, so the ep ends with him menacingly outside the house looking at Stef's card. Heh, maybe Nick will get out, and they both try to break into the house to attack the family at the same time and take each other out.
Which brings us to Mariana- there's some drama where Jesus finds an old diary of Stef's, which Mariana ends up reading, where Stef implies Lena didn't want to adopt the twins. Which was totally untrue. Its just since Lena grew up with a very cold mother, she didn't know how to respond when Mariana immediately bonded with her, so he initial unease was misconstrued.
Mariana is obviously hurt, and between that and Nick having hidden in their house totally creeping her out about the house, she throws a fit saying she can't wait to move out. Lena explains herself to her later, but then asks if there's any reason why she said she can't wait to leave. For some reason Mariana does not mention her PTSD from Nick being in the house.
But ugh, Brandon in NYC and Ariel being all, "Lemme show you the real NYC!" That always makes me eyes roll. Hey, I'm from NYC, and as the Schuyler sisters say, its the greatest city in the world, but that line is kinda obnoxious. She does re-iterate what Stef said, and that if Juilliard is his dream (Brandon says it is), he can't stay with Cortney out of some misplaced sense of obligation. And that he has to get rid of all that drama before his audition.
He's all, "I can't call her up and break up with her after having taken off to NYC!" Ari tells him to write a letter to get all those feelings out, then his mind will be clear, but he'll beat the letter back to San Diego. That way he can break up with her in person. Heh, I wonder if somehow she'll get the letter first, leading to hilarity.
