Finally caught Ted 2 on HBO. Nothing to write home about, some jokes hit, some jokes miss. There were a couple things that really amused me. The incredibly odd Liam Neeson cameo about Trix being for kids cracked me up at its randomness and absurdity. And I thought it was funny reference to have Patrick Warburton and Michael Dorn's characters dress up as the Tick and Worf, respectively, at Comic Con. Actually, the fact that they actually made a bunch of jokes comparing Amanda Seyfried's character was kinda funny, because they both do have big eyes. I mean, its slightly mean, because I wanna say people actually did make the comparison before this movie, but she seems to be a good sport about it.
So, while cleaning up my hard drives because I have too much of a certain thing (Ida know, is 400+ gigs too much?) I finally got around to watching the Marvel Item 47 one shot- I knew it had Lizzy Caplan, I did not know it had the dude from Bring It On or Agents Sitwell and Blake. The latter two were weird for me to see given how their characters turned out in the MCU. But the way it played out made me wonder if Lizzy Caplan and Jesse Metcalfe were originally slated to be on AoS, but they ended up re-tooling the show to what it is now.
I also finally started watching those eps of Jonathan Creek M gave me. Just caught the 1st ep so far, but I enjoyed it, it was actually quite interesting. I like how they set it up to make it totally seem like the wife did it at first, filming things so as to be suspicious and set up Jonathan's explanation of how it could of been done. But that was a total red herring, and it did not go down that way.
As they said in the ep, it was all about expectations. We knew the victim was a cheating lech, and with the model tied up like that in the bedroom, we didn't question that that's who he was cheating with. So it was a clever twist to have her be the murderer. I think they did a good job of laying the groundwork of her being the killer while making it seem like the killer was after her.
One thing I wasn't thrilled about though was the whole deal with him being upset at seeing the reporter lady with another paramour. As she said, she totally told him in the beginning this was business and nothing was going to happen between them! But then he was all, "Oh, I thought you were just saying that, and there was totally a chance of that happening!" And she gives him an earful, but at the end, when they solved the case, there's the implication something does happen!
I guess that ep was from almost 20 years ago, and it was a different time back then, but that's the sort of thing that makes dudes think if they're nice and helpful enough, some girl will eff them, and then get angry when they don't and end up going on shooting sprees. I mean, I get he's very weird and awkward and he outright says he has trouble reading people. But having him getting angry and chastising her for "leading him on", only for it to work out in the end kinda encourages some guys nowadays to think the way they do, that they're owed something from women. Being all, "But we had a friendly conversation! (or sometimes, the guy thinks they had a friendly convo and the girl was just trying to be polite) What do you mean that doesn't mean we're totally having sex? cliffv('What's up with that?!')"
But yeah, that tidbit aside, I enjoyed everything else. Heh, its crazy that the first ep was almost 20 years ago, and looking at IMDB, that show is still on. Well, it sounds like the latest season was back in 2014, but apparently they're doing a one-off this year, so imdb lists the series as being from 1997-2016.
